We have been to several plays here and find the quality of the cast excellent. The Road to Bountiful was the best I'd seen anywhere -- local or Broadway offerings. Prices are reasonable, seats are comfortable and reservations are smooth. Parking is easy. What a treat.

A small town theater. Its cute, the seats are comfortable. The shows are put together very well. Overall it was nice. And I would go to another show and dinner for a date night with my husband. ( some restaurants downtown actually give you a discount if you show your ticket that you are going to see a play that night)However if your not wanting dinner or if you at a show around dinner and hungry, during intermission they sell little baked goods and soda. It could use a pick me up, not change the old feel just a new coat of paint and some little facelifts including the bathrooms. Also serving wine or beer and maybe a cheese and fruit tray instead of more child snacks would be nice too. The only real real issue I had actually was that they don't let you take a drink to your seat, it would be nice too be able to sip on something during the show.

The playhouse is an old building so the seating, room, and stage reflect that. However, if you can look past that catching a play can be a fun evening or afternoon event. It is not expensive. It is a community theatre so don't expect Broadway but I think everyone always does a wonderful job. The Playhouse has mostly adult shows but they do perform a few kid's shows throughout the year. Kid's shows are often only for one weekend so be sure to check the website frequently for showtimes as the Playhouse never advertises on the radio or puts up signs. The Playhouse is located downtown by the courthouse so parking on street is limited so be sure to park off of Patterson behind the Playhouse where there is a large free parking lot. Most people don't dress up, however when I take the kids we always do (I grew up in an age when it was rude not to be dressed in at least cocktail attire for a theatre show). The concession stand is very limited in choices so if you are like my family and need to graze every couple hours be sure to eat before a show and maybe pack a small snack in your purse.

Anyone coming through on show nights, just come on over to the theater, they'll find you a ticket. This is small town theater at it's finest!! Old building saved by the theater group, it's comfortable and just pure fun to be in the building. During intermission you'll find everyone spills out onto the street to visit with each other. Most of locals know at least half of the players and that adds to the fun. Last play we saw here was "Dixie Swim Club" and it was fabulous! I know several people went twice. For folks visiting the area, this is one street over from Patterson St. where several restaurants reviewed on this site are open, parking on the street, little brick alleys run between Patterson and Ashley. Lovely experience. Have never seen a bad play here.

On Dec 7, 2013, we went to the 'Dosta Playhouse to see To Kill a Mockingbird. What a FABULOUS adaptation. The 10 year old girl who played Scout Finch was amazing - 10! Atticus Finch was played perfectly, as well. The theatre itself is very comfortable, the seating, the atmosphere, refreshments - everything. We thoroughly enjoyed a night out with several friends. There is not a 'bad' seat in the house. The accoustics are phenomenal - we didn't miss a line. The stage design was incredible, as well. I can't say enough good about this show and the theatre - we plan to attend many shows in the future.

It is a quaint little theatre, and there are no bad seats in the house. We went there to see To Kill a Mockingbird and what a fantastic crew of performers. The seats were comfortable, a bit chilly though. We will definitely come again and bring friends. Cudos!
