Wow. Played twice in one day with lunch. Excellent package. Food was great. Staff was spot on. The course is superb. This is a must play course if you are in the area.
I realized the second time there that The Raven has both a fine dining restaurant with the whole nine yards (Valentine's Day perhaps) and there's also the "sports bar" restaurant and patio which is not pretentious at all (I think the cafe fills up very early). this time we had supper in the cafe with the big screens (didn't bother our group but some people were avidly watching football). The patio was too cool at that time of day, so we opted to eat inside...and what a culinary experience it was. Everything from soup to their salmon dish and steak was first class. The icing on the cake, however, was the wonderful service...many smiles, many extra touches and attention made us feel like kings and queens. Kudos, Raven Bar and Cafe (or whatever it is called.) All the restaurants are listed under Raven Golf Course with no individual names... Give it a try, you won't be sorry! You don't have to golf!
This course is very well maintained and fun to golf, but not worth the price. It is a difficult course and I had fun there, but there are more enjoyable courses for better prices around.
This course loops through the Verrado housing development nestled against the White Tank mountains in the SW portion of the Phoenix valley. The staff is great and accommodating. The course is well maintained year around, the greens get a little hard in summer here for everyone. The layout is challenging and has some of the best views to be had in this area. Lush fairways and the total environment keeps you coming back. For your after round libation the bar/restaurant is welcoming with super staff. One of my top five courses in Central Arizona.
We don't play golf, but go here for lunch occasionally, as we live nearby. I like the atmosphere, well decorated and clean. The food is good, the menu size is decent, and we never had a bad meal here. Not super cheap, but what is any more? Worth a little extra to enjoy the ambiance.
Our group played golf here this week and as usual the course was Ok with hard greens, and standing water on fairways. Not a place for fun golf. However, the main detraction is the 19th hole, bar. The prices are exprbant compared to other courses and the service is lacking! I will not return to this overpriced, out of the way location.
Great wait staff with good food and beautiful View of the golf Course and mountains and, water . Very easy atmosphere to enjoy
8 of us played here last week , the course conditions were great , the real hook for us was the way we were treated , from the players assistant , to the restaurant staff they make you feel welcome , our group will be booking our next golf trip to Phoenix and this course is a definite replay! You can't go wrong , great customer service!
Really enjoyed the rounds at Raven. Desert golf with some elevation changes and a little water mixed in. Definitely will return.
4 of us played this course on a golf trip. We played 27 holes. Wonderful customer service from pro shop, to the starter, to the refreshment cart ladies! A bit pricey but a much better experience than Ocatillo that we played 2 days before.
We try to play here a few times during our stay in Arizona. The course is always in great shape, the pace of play is good, the Rangers are helpful and friendly. We find the rates high, so always look for deals on line. My only negative comment is the Pro shop staff could be friendlier.
You get distracted by the views from most of the golf holes on the the course. They have several tee box locations for all skill levels but the course is tight in spots and there are some places where a good carry is required on a t-shot. Always in great condition when I have been there.
I found this course to be very overrated in terms of green fees, layout and "Golf Digest" reviews. The course is flat and wide open. Course has no character, no challenge, no undulating greens or fairways, no water(except for 2 holes), hardly any doglegs, no on course bathroom facilities, no GPS, poor hole to hole signage, etc. My brother(visiting from Chicago)said this isn't a top 10 course in Chicago let alone Arizona. After playing, I can think of many West Valley courses that I would rather play - Wigwam, Palm Valley and even Cold water. The course was well maintained and the view of the White Tank Mnts was nice but that will not warrant a return trip to this course.
Our family of 3 ( 2 adults and 1 junior ) played the R.A.V. this past Monday. It was a memorable round of golf on a perfectly maintained track. All tees were in play and on this day I had the fortune of experiencing this course from the Raven tees ( black, at 7258 yards total ) My wife and 12 year old jr. played the whites ( 6228 yards ) The course is in fine condition, with the bunkers and putting greens maintained perfectly ! Cudos to the greenskeeping crew and proshop staff , who made certain our 1st experience at the R.A.V. went perfectly. We teed off at 11:50 and completed a relaxing round of golf in just under 3:50 hrs. We were staying at the W/W in Litchfield park and decided to give the RAV a try, just for something different. I must say that we all enjoyed the experience and will definately come back to play this course again when in the W. Valley of Phoenix. The rates are very reasonable for a course of this quality and design. There is no GPS system installed on the carts we played on this day... but the sprinkler heads were all clearly marked and accurate. I would NOT deem the lack of a GPS to be a drawback in any respect. There are only a few courses of this calliber in the Scottsdale area, so if you miss the chance to play R.A.V. it may be an opportunity you will regret later. Prices charged include cart and unlimited range balls.
Nicely kept. In neighborhood but it is a public course. Beautiful fairways. LOVE the Raven restaurant... great food and views as well.
