Don't let the name fool you - this store has displays from many different artists and the prices are not out of line. You can find everything from native american art to jewelry to clothing. Lots of fun and definitely worth a stop when visiting Sedona. I highly recommend stopping in.
We enjoy stopping at the Art Mart. Over the years we have bought several items. The quilt art is very nice and quite reasonable. The first time we bought something we saw it several more times (same artist) in the higher priced galleries at higher prices.
ART MART on 89A S. The painted building was attractive - native american art, eagles etc. As it was away from the more popular Sedona shopping it warranted a look . Appeared like an Artist Cooperative.Inside, you are requested to give up all bags, parcels, etc. Guess they gotta do it. No problem. The store appears to be a consignment gallery for artists. There is perhaps too much eye clutter to actually focus on shopping for something unique. But you can if you spend a few hours wading through the souvenirs. Many of the items are common and found elsewhere - found them to be higher priced than even some of the more popular shopping venues. There are, alas, many many items that are not made by local artists, not made in the USA and some items mass produced. The people running the register that day were NOT artists represented by this store, and not artists at all. That is what they said upon asking. One person was working the register and as the line grew, she had difficulty processing anyone's purchase. The only other person there just stood around and eventually were able to get his assistance to unlock one of the cases. The people in the store at that time didnt know anything about any of the items nor artists who made them. They didnt have anything to give with the purchase except a sales receipt. Purchased a $75.00 silver jewelry item and one of the people at the desk just threw it in a plastic shopping bag with other items. Upon discussion, a small box was included. Saw the exact same item later in the week in a store specializing in Native American silver for $25 less. Their sales tax structure is unclear - it's in two parts. Neither person could explain it. There is a small sign at the register that states absolutely NO refunds or exchanges. So try that T-shirt on and be sure your item is in good condition. Almost every other store in Sedona grants store credit within a certain timeframe. So, shop here if you like but better to look around and purchase elsewhere from a more seasoned and knowedgeable vendor (unless you are just seeking souvenirs). Be prepared for zero customer service due to whomever is training the employees and realize that the price you will pay for local, artist made items has a significant extra cost to benefit this store. It looks authentic and artsy but it really doesnt seem to be. They arent doing anything wrong, just doing it poorly. In a place that competes for the tourist dollar, go elsewhere and get great customer service and probably at a lower price.
Great prices. Local artists, worth going to ! Spend your money here, you will pay half price versus other tourist spots!
After all the junk stores you see in vacation spots, it was refreshing to find real treasures here. Spent $100 and got some great pieces. I just love the three framed prints I picked up here. What a find!
We stubbled onto Art Mart and were pleasantly surprised to find a great collection of treasures, most by local artists. Eye candy around every corner, many at prices lower than you might find in town. Well worth the stop.
I just went to the Art Mart of Sedona on Wednesday & was warmly greeted by a gentleman who I think was the owner & his adorable Chinese Crested dogs. I expected the Art Mart to be filled with tacky tourist garbage, but I was pleasantly surprised at some of the treasures inside. There was some great art, jewelry, etc. and all at very reasonable prices! I plan on going to the Art Mart of Sedona during every trip to Sedona!
