We discovered this Gem on our way out of Holbrook to the Southern entry into the Petrified Forest National Park. We were in there for 2 hours, and left with some very unique items. I found this store such a unique place that it is worth the drive even if you are just driving past Holbrook on I-40. (A plus is you get to see a section of Historic Route 66 as you drive through Holbrook).Jim Gray's is a really interesting place that is a combination neat clean and spacious: Area Museum, Rock Shop, Landscaping materials supplier, Art and Jewelry store, and fine Furniture store. (Oh Yes, visit the displays/collections in the Restroom before you leave! )

You have to go and see this store and mass private colloction Jim gray has. They have things from 99 cents to tables that cost 22,000 dollars. Massive place. Really enjoyed looking around. Beautiful items for sale. From petrified wood items to Indian pottory, jewelry...everything in between.

Jim Gray's is a fun place to stop and check out, especially if you are a rock hound. There are countless pieces and sizes of petrified wood along with other fossils, geodes, quartz etc. to purchase in all price ranges. Their back lot is filled with huge piles of geodes, petrified wood and other minerals & stones. If you are taking the drive thru the petrified forest and painted desert, you will go past Jim's on the way back to Holbrook, might as well stop and check it out.

This is first a gift shop, but has a glassed in work area where objects are being fashion/carved out of stone. There is a huge outdoor display area where you can get closer to and touch the petrified wood without being yelled at by National Park rangers. A huge variety of raw unpolished stone by the pallet or piece is available. The inside display area is more like a museum for rock and mineral collectors. There are many artifacts including arrowheads, dinosaur remains, and polished stones in easy to view glass display cases. This is a good break either before or after the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. Holbrook has a good variety of fast food places to offer.

Take the time to stop in and browse this huge store/museum. It really is mostly a museum and there isn't a cost to go in.Many rock samples that are in the owners private collection. Beautiful pieces of petrified wood. Many with polished ends that really bring out the colors. It is amazing that all of this comes from our earth.

We bought some petrified woods outside the NP and asked for some shipping info or local business to slice the rocks. This store was completely useless and very narrow sighted. Luckily, we found out another way to ship rocks up to 100 lb for $80; compared to $2 per lb shipping this company gave. We were very happy that we paid another local folk for the rocks and was able to find other reasonable stores instead of paying them.

Take the time to stop and browse the store but the museum has a great collection. Hard to believe the vast array of stones. Be sure to check the outside area for amazingly large stones!

We took the advice of fellow trip advisors and visited this shop after our visit to the National Park. The selection of petrified wood and fossils is equaled only by the helpfulness and knowledge of the staff. We made alot of purchases to give as gifts and display in our home. Opportunities range from the highest quality collectables to small gifts for children. Like their online store too.

We were looking specifically for a small slab for a table top. The staff was very helpful, telling us where, in addition to the obvious wall of slabs that started just inside the store, they had slabs for us to compare. After much discussion. we settled on a polished cross-section of petrified wood. They wrapped it very well for us to take home and even carried it out to the car for us. Then there's the rest of the shop, from small chunks of petrified wood to beautiful super high end furniture. Moreover, when you drive into the place, you can see the "rock yard" which is filled, naturally, with everything from rollers to logs of petrified wood. It's practically a petrified wood museum.

Great prices on by the pound petrified wood and other rocks. Wide variety of interesting artifacts, has a little museum of rocks, great browsing, clean restrooms, cool indoor fountain/pond with fish and turtles.

Stopped in on our way back to Idaho. A little overwhelmed by the selection--lots and lots of it. The most interesting part was the private collection of fossils and other rocks that is displayed in the store.

Visited in Mid April 2014 and was overwhelmed by the selection of items to purchase and view in their museum. This place was better than actually visiting the Petrified Forest National Park (especially if one has kids). More to see, feel and amaze.Staff was knowledgeable but not overly friendly, which is fine.Anything you can think of (and want) to take home with you can be purchased here.

If you are looking for a unique, compact and durable gift this is the place. Everything from rough rocks to elaborate jewelry and lawn installations.

We started our day at Jim's and then compared selection and prices at other shops. We ended our day at Jim's making our purchases. It was amazing and educational. You should definitely put this stop on your must do list.

This is not just a typical store to buy petrified wood but actually it's somewhat of a museum as well! The owner has his own extremely unique and awesome collection of petrified wood as well as fossils on display. There are some very cool pieces there, but alas, none of those are for sale. But don't fret as they have a gigantic selection of all types, sizes, shapes and uses of petrified wood for sale. Some are inlays for tables, some full-sized chairs as well as they have an entire water fountain display near the back. Worth the stop but be careful, you'll spend money!!
