Take the Historic Route 66 from Kingman to Seligman, AZ. The road is is great shape and an easy drive. Stop in Seligman, walk the street, have some lunch and stop at Delgadillo's Gift Shop and Visitor Center. The shop is packed with everything you could think to purchase regarding Route 66. The employees are both friendly and helpful. There are also lots of tourist information and decent bathrooms. Definitely worth a few minutes of your time.
These folks have been the tourist bureau for Route 66 for many years. It's a small place...10 tourists and it will seem cramped.Worth the trouble.
I have visited this wonderful gift shop/visitor center several times over the years, and every time I go there, I just love it more than ever. Angel Delgadillo is truly a Route 66 icon. I've met him personally and have enjoyed long conversations with him. He even put up my business card just inside and above the door in his barbershop. Every time I stop there, I check out that card and, yup, there it still is!
We are very sorry to hear that you had an unpleasant experience. Our shop does get extremely busy during the height of the tourist season due to the fact that we are much more than a souvenir shop. As the internationally well-known original Route 66 gift shop where Route 66 was reborn as a historic highway, many travelers consider their Route 66 journey incomplete without a visit to our gift shop, museum, and visitor's center. Unlike the other shops in town we are a historic landmark and over half the products we carry are made in the U.S.A. As a recommendation to future travelers who find our shop too busy to be an enjoyable experience, we suggest waiting 30 minutes and coming back. Often our bus traffic comes and goes all at the same time. If you have the time to wait and come back when it is slower we would appreciate it since we enjoy getting to spend quality time with our visitors to give them the history of the store and provide them with the hospitality for which we are known.
Had a brief visit to Kingman Arizona back in 2013 enroute to the Grand Canyon South Rim.Angel & Vilma's show was a treasure trove of souvenirs! Would love to stop by here again one day!
We were on a coach tour of Western USA and Seligman wasn't on the itinerary. However, due to flooding and road closures, our driver took a detour through Seligman and granted us 30 precious minutes to look around. We'd watched the Billy Connelly Route 66 series just a few weeks before our trip, so the legend and history of it was fresh in our minds. It was totally unexpected but turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip, especially when we found out that the man himself, Angel Delgadillo was in the store at the time.It was a frantic dash into the store to find and greet Angel; what an absolute gentleman. We chatted with him for a few minutes and he kindly signed a plaque that we bought in store. (This now has pride of place in the OH's man cave!)The store itself is a good size, but appears small due to all the stuff (and people) in there. It also houses Angel's barber shop.It has everything you could want in there and all reasonably priced too. We bought a couple of t-shirts and also left a £5 note which we both signed, to add the the collection of notes stapled to the ceiling of the shop!We were so excited to be able to see this place; both of us are huge fans of Route 66 and I was so pleased that my OH got the opportunity to see it. The sheer joy on his face when the driver announced we would be stopping there was priceless! It's a pity we didn't have longer to absorb and explore more of the place, but it still left us with a fantastic memory that we will cherish for years to come.
Really interesting place. You have to go inside to experience. Before stepping into the shop, we were greeted by a old friendly lady saying there's a washroom and free coffee inside. Man washroom is hung with a lot of vehicles' license plates and road signs. they were all given from all visitors coming all over the world. license plates can be found on a ceiling of the shop from Japan, Canada to Europe. Their gift items are well designed. Made in USA as well. Inside you find a lot of histories behind Route 66. People here are well willing to share the stores and histories to every visitor if you ask. You can also get your passport stamp inside. The stamp is really meaningful. Route 66 sign with the world "Save" underneath. I would say this little shop is one of my favour in my Las Vegas's trip.
this place had the only barber shop in town still running and everyone here is so nice and knowledgeable! Spoke with Connie, she is awesome
You cant travel the 66 without a visit here! A real piece of history that makes you want to talk in whispers! We didnt get to meet Angel, the man who put 66 back on the map unfortunately, but we did see the barbers chair, free coffee and happy and welcoming staff. Inspiring what a person can achieve with a strong will!
One of my favorite moments during the roadtrip my wife and took last month. Everything worked out and I was able to get my haircut by the man himself, Angel Delgadillo. The shop has just about EVERYTHING you could ever ask for in regards to Route 66, and the kicker? Well, the kicker is the prices, they are NOT the gouging prices you would expect from most establishments like this. While they could easily charge, and get more money, they have chosen to be reasonable with their prices.History, legends, shopping and great prices? You gotta stop!
A "retail store" the size of a one car garage. An important stop traveling on Route 66. You can buy gift shop items, convenience food and t-shirts etc. A fun stop to browse and buy another t-shirt traveling through the Great State of Arizona. This one out of four similar stores located on the main drag for shopping, picture taking and sightseeing. An hour visit for this stop is about max time needed. Store owners pleasure and welcoming. Make the effort to stop here,it will good favor of this place and this part of our great country! do it...you'll like it!
First visit to not only Route 66 but to America and had to visit Seligman and Angel & Vilma's shop. Situated on the dusty high street just past all the other many giftshops stands this bright gem, and what made it shine even brighter was that when we visited, Angel was working his trade and delighted myself with a wetshave as well as humour and antidotes. A true gem, a true modern icon and a definite highlight to our holiday (as well as a superb barber). Thank you Angel.Ps. The shop is superb also, with Angel signing gift.
If you're travelling the mother road in Arizona this is a definite must do. The whole town really signifies the feel of Route 66, and this is also the case with Angel and Vilma's Visitor Center. So much memorabilia and stories and you can't help spending in the gift shop just to say you bought it here. Fantastic place with loads of photo opportunities.
I believe this place is very well known on Route 66, but despite being very busy, all the staff had time to chat with everyone. We were all invited to help ourselves to free coffee and were made to feel very welcome. The shop has lots of choice at reasonable prices, so if you're looking for that Route 66 memento, this is the place!
This is a great place to catch the vibe of route 66 and enjoy some 1950-60s flair. The shop is filled with anything you could want about route 66 and is fun to look at. It's covered in signage. Their are license plates from different cars from all over the world on the inside. It's a small place but very cute and a must visit if you are looking for anything route 66 related.
