lower chimney rock trail

The loop trial is nice with lots of views. If time go to the vista overlook at Little Sugarloaf. You are asked to have a Red Rock pass for parking.

Can drive almost up to it and not much of a walk to get good view. Good roads.Worth seeing. Will not take a lot of time and can be back on the road to your next rock. Have a good drive we did.

This is a generally easy hike. In the summer months, all hikes in Sedona should be early morning or late afternoon because of the heat. Be sure to take plenty of water no matter which hike you choose.

Easy hike, very scenic. Recommend wearing hiking boots and you must take water.

This was a very short and easy hike around Lower Chimney Rock (trail head begins in a residential neighborhood in West Sedona). When we approached the trail to the summit, we decided to try it out. It is relatively steep, but very manageable. Going down on the other hand isn't nearly as enjoyable when you're scared of heights like me! In focusing on reaching the summit I didn't realize/think about how high I was until I looked back/down, and boy did that make me nervous! The summit had great views which instilled a sense of adventure, freedom, and exhilaration. I imagine it is probably very similar (perhaps easier?) than Bell Rock looked. Going to the summit made this hike worthwhile, and in fact, at the start of the trail, I would recommend heading north toward where the trail to the summit is, and then go in reverse back to where you parked instead of going all the way around Lower Chimney Rock as the hike around it wasn't all that interesting.
