a quaint historic town with a great deal of history, thanks to Bill. There are several geocaches in the area along historic Route 66.
Not much of a monument or park, but it is a nice little area to sit and relax and take in the sites of historic Williams at the site of its founder
right in the middle of town and worth a stop to understand the beginnings of Williams AZ . Great for photo and doesn't cost anything.
good little park for geo-caching and taking a well deserved break after walking the city streets. Not a lot to do but it was quite.
If you blink you could miss this. More of a garden than a park but still worth looking at for 3 mins.
Thirty years ago hundreds of Bill Williams fans gathered to view the unveiling of a statue of the famed mountain man in Williams, AZ. The eight-foot tall monument of William Sherley Williams, better known throughout history as “Bill Williams” for whom Williams, AZ was named, was dedicated in a ceremony on April 26, 1980.Senator Barry Goldwater did the unveiling in a historic event that was covered by the national media. The monumental sculpture was designed and created by local Arizona artist B.R. (Bill) Pettit. The bronze statue was erected in the then newly-constructed Bill Williams Monument Park on historic Route 66. The bronze has since become a Route 66 icon. Most recently, Pettit’s widow, Laurha Beveridge has reissued her late husband’s work. “I really want to honor Bill, his family and his work as well as Williams and the people that have been supporting him through his entire life," said Beveridge. "I think I've done him proud."
