This place is awesome! Come out for a visit and you can see the little calves in person. Buy some cheese or snacks and sit out at the picnic table and let your little ones see some farm life up close. And the cheese is AWESOME!!!

If your kids have never been to a farm, or if you have nostalgic memories of farm life, this is a great spot to spend an hour. The county fair was going on during my visit, so none of the visitors could milk a cow, feed a calf, or take a guided tour. But we visited with friendly week-old calves, observed the cheese making process, and played with some cute kittens. The cheese shop had a variety of selections, including award-winning cheeses that are impossible to obtain back home. The staff were friendly and directed us to a nearby winery and other out-of-the-way attractions. Even if you're not interested in walking around the farm, the unique cheeses are worth the trip. The cheese curds and bacon cheddar are excellent.

This has to be one of the coolest things to do with your family. We arrived at the Ropp farm not sure what to expect. We stopped into the cheese tasting room/store first just to get an idea of where to go and what to do. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They basically said go where you want and see what you can. They told us to be sure to go into each barn and see all the animals. What a fun visit it was as we saw calves that we just a few days old, full size cattle, ducks, rabbits, pigs, sheep and even a llama! We watched a farmer move a round bale of hay. We fed some leaves to the sheep. The only thing missing was seeing a cow being milked or being able to milk one ourselves but we had to remember this is a working farm not a zoo. We were able to see cheese being made in a trailer. We saw them bagging cheese to sell. We sampled cheeses and picked out our favorites to take home with us. We even had an ice cream cone out on a picnic table in the shade. What a great experience for the kids and myself!

The Ropp family are friendly neighbors who have a cute shop that sells locally made products. Several cheeses are available to sample, as well as curds and spread. All are delicious but my favorite is the bacon cheddar. Various brats and sausages, honey, popcorn, jams and jellies, farm fresh eggs, and local produce are all available. Store is clean and neat. This is the type of shop you would plan a visit around while traveling on vacation, but never think to shop when it is in your back yard. Give yourself a break and stop by.

We took young relatives that were visiting to the "cheese farm". Upon arrival a lady took the young kids out to bottle feed the calves. The kids were so excited! While the family thought the idea of visiting the farm was just ok, they left with a great appreciation of the family run business! A great learning experience for the kids!! Thanks Ropp family!!
