We have been to The Skatium on several occasions for children's birthday parties. The staff is friendly and the music is fun. My kids love to go there.

We visited Carbondale in July - exploratory visit for my older child considering attending Southern Illinois University. After a day on campus; she (and my 11-year old) just needed someplace fun to go - and to not have to think. We were pleasantly surprised to find this place a few miles NW of Carbondale. It is a mid-size skating area with both inline and roller skates. Periodically they'd organize an activity/game on the floor of the rink. There was basic food and drink when the kids got hungry or thirsty. They had a selection of video games to choose from - which was a blessing when one kid had enough skating but the other wasn't really to leave. The place was clean and the people friendly.

This facility offers clean, well supervised fun for kids of all ages. We will definitely go back!

This opened last May (2010). It is a very family oriented place. They have the latest music and games to enjoy while spending time with friends and family. There are 3 party rooms for you to have a private party (that has to be set-up beforehand). There are concession-type foods and video games where the kids can redeem their coupons for little trinkets, candy, etc. There are 2 tv's playing in the concession area. They are STRICT about not letting adults in to loiter if they are not there with a child/grandchild of their own. They have a great family deal on Thursday nights where the family gets skates/pizza/soda for a low price.
