Due to moving out of state I have not been to Royal Oak in many years. It was great to return recently after roughly 12 years and see all the additions that have been made and to see that has become a family fall favorite for many. I love the faith and family values that they possess and it comes through in the atmosphere and customer service. Keep doing what you're doing!! I will be back.
This place was exactly what we were looking for this past weekend. We were babysitting our Grandson, who is just under 2 years old, and we were looking for something that would be entertaining for all of us. We were able to feed the alpaca's, goats, chickens and ducks, ride the carousel, ride the train, let my grandson slide down the slides (100 times :-), buy apple cider donuts, and get an apple cider slushie - all for around $20. I was so tempted to also buy their pumpkin donuts, but my waistline needs to stop growing at some point! The staff was very professional and the day was just perfect. Kids under 2 get to ride the attractions for free, and that was very helpful for us. Adults are $2.50, which is reasonable. For a farm, this place is very clean and inviting. I would definitely recommend going here to take in the experience - especially if you have small children and are looking for something to do outside.
As one of the family members that owns Royal Oak Farm Orchard, we sincerely apologize for the treatment you received during your visit here. That is NOT the way our employees are trained to respond to issues at all. Although our price signage does indicate in two locations prior to entering U-Pick that there is a maximum of 4 persons per $20 peck bag (average of $5.00 per person) our employees should not have reacted in the manner that they reacted. This 4 per bag policy is one we have had in place for many years, but employees do not always get that information across to customers that do not notice the signage nor indicate how many persons are in their party. Simply pulling your group aside and politely explaining the orchard's policies in a calm tone would have resolved the matter, as you have indicated. We will be addressing this issue immediately and thank you for bringing it to our attention.
So if you're going for a quick burger or hot dog and don't want to sit inside, no real "snacks" at the snack shop. Kids had fun running around but we were so disappointed and rudely treated while trying to go apple picking. The smallest bag is $20! I don't know what kid can even carry a peck of apples and you should think about have $5 child size bags. Anyway we bought one bag for our 5 kids to share and the lady at the wagon insisted, in not a very nice manner, that we must buy another $20 bag to go with the rest of our family on the wagon! So two of us stayed behind since it's not worth $20 nor could we afford it. Anyway, bad taste in my mouth and will not be returning. For a Christian based company, they sure rake in the money and don't treat families that may not be able to afford $20 apples with respect.
It was a cool weekend day, so no point in trying to be on the boat. Just a short drive from Fontana WI, we decided to go apple picking. First impression is that this place is huge. Another stand out is how well kept everything is (buildings, rows of apple trees, semi-concelled irrigation system). Wagon ride out to the orchards is typical, but did notice many varieties of apples I've never heard of (this was 1st weekend of picking, Jona Mac and their Hybrid I believe Sena Mac were the only available apples). Great play area for kids, petting farm, train for really little kids, live music, descent restaurant/cafeteria where everything is scratch made (you can see it right away). One thing I will add and this did not bother us at all nor do I feel its over the top, there are a few Religious (Christianity) references here and there. Normally I would not even mention this but am realizing some may be sensitive to this. All in all a really fun day with lots to do.
My husband and I were on our way home from a weekend getaway in Delavan, WI, and wanted to apple-pick before we left the area. What a great place!! We got here early on Columbus Day, and there were already lots of people, but we quickly got our bags and were off to the trees. The apples are wonderful, plentiful, and reasonably priced. After picking, we wandered through the stores and other outbuildings. It's very spread out, so even though there were many people, we didn't feel crowded. This is exactly what we were looking for today -- thanks, Royal Oak Farm!
We went with our three teenage kids (16, 14 and 12) on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We got there around 2:30. The line to get into the orchard was VERY VERY long, but it moved at a decent pace. There were many different apples to choose from, and they do let you go ahead and pick and taste...which is nice. Watch our for bees, there are so many half-eaten apples on the ground, the bees are all over them! We did enjoy the orchard, but I was also looking forward to the shop/bakery! Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. I couldn't wait to have apple cider donuts, and they were very dry. We also bought a $6 dollar bottle of strawberry preserves...yes, $6!! After getting home and trying it...such a disappointment. It was not very good at all. There is a place near our house, Tom's Farm...best apple cider donuts ever, and the homemade goods there are outstanding. Maybe I'm just spoiled:)So, come for the apple orchard, but the bakery...maybe not so much.Oh, the Crown Porta-Potty's were very clean...that's a plus.
Fun family entertainment up by the Wisconsin border. Apple trees galore so many varieties to choose from. Play areas for the kids(good for younger children under 10). Train ride, merry go round, wooden train, boat etc. to climb on, w/wagon rides to the orchard. There was a campfire going & you could sit on half logs & just enjoy the smells of the season. Country music playing by a band. Animals to feed & view. There's a store, yummy hot or cold cider, fudge, doughnuts aplenty...not to mention pastries, pies to buy. There's also a restaurant w/a variety of foods & desserts. This is our 2nd year to visit & always enjoy the day.
Not only is this a great apple orchard, they have my favorite gift shop and restaurant. The gift shop offers many religious gifts and other unique gifts. You can also snack on apple fritters, apple donuts and cider while you're there. The restaurant is always packed. The food is very good, and the desserts even better! They are not open on Sundays though.
This is a very family friendly establishment with fun for the young children, shopping and a great home cooked tasting lunch for the whole group.
One of the best places for apple picking. They take you on a wagon into the apple orchards. There is also a gift shop, food and things for the kids. Great place to spend a fall afternoon.
Great farm/ orchard for the family and young children. We have been here several times and have always enjoyed our time. The apple picking is relaxing and with plenty of tractors available to take you to the orchards and back. Of course, you can also just buy the apples in the store instead. Royal oak also has a restaurant and giftshop selling all the usual items plus some others you might not expect. The cider donuts and apple cider are delicious as are the cookies and fudge. There is also a low key area for kids to play, with lots of wooden structures to climb on, a small petting zoo, a small carousel, and a mini train ride. Small fee for the rides. Overall, the place is extremely scenic, quaint, and agreeable. If you are looking for a nice orchard to take your family to without wanting to deal with a circus environment... This is it!
We go every year, and pick a bushel of apples! Especially during the week, we never see more than a few groups oicking which is great for the family to take their time and have a great time with the kids. The pumpkin fields are awesome too, and the Cinderella pumpkins are always fun to see. They have a great play area for the kids, and alpacas to pet, a merry-go-round, and a train ride, all very reasonable. They also have a petting zoo that you may feed the animals via coin-operated feed machines. It's a bit of a drive, but it is well worth it. All the produce is fresh picked and the baked goods are amazing! After all that, the cafe is to die for. They have a buffet line you can go through with apple dumplings, apple pancakes, apple sausage, you name it! You need a nap afterwards! For all the dwindling orchards, thank God this one is still going strong!
Not far from our home. Delicious apples. The restaurant serves great food and warm pies-especially the apple. A gift shop with unusual gifts and yummy bakery!
clean friendly staff good food and nice gift shops cant wait to come back again in sept. 2012 best place to go for pumpkins and apples
