This is a good spot for a photo-op. It is always nice to see a bit of the older Americana that still survives along the roads.
This was something cool and easy to see. It didn't take a lot of time - very close to the Interstate for those passing through - and it was a fun thing to take pictures of.
Travel on Rt 66 is fun for so many reasons. This giant covered wagon was damaged in storms this year but is in perfect condition right now. Stop and take your pictures with Abe and be sure to stop by some antique shops.
Easy to find on the Old Route 66, this is a must see on your way through Lincoln. It is much bigger than one would think it would be. In a nice little area that you can pull off and have a quick lunch or a coffee. Abraham Lincoln used to pass through Lincoln on his way to various Court Houses when he practiced law. Stop and see the Worlds Largest Wagon with Old Abe sitting in it.
Don't make this the only reason to stop in Lincoln. IL. An incongruous assembly of Abe, a book, and a Conestoga wagon. It is one of many silly odd attractions found on Old Route 66. Take a look, take a picture, and head on down the Mother Road.
Nothing amazing. :/ I cant say much more than that. Guess I need to have at least 100 characters....
We live to stop and see those odd little places as we're traveling to different places and, seeing the attraction in town, we stopped. BONUS it was right in historic 66. The girls thought it was cheesy (it was, but we enjoyed the short visit. We took a few pics and were on our way. The wagon is HUGE, but there isn't too much to actually do besides stand, smile, and leave.
The biggest covered wagon in the United States. Driven by Old Abe Lincoln. Located in front of the Best Western Plus Motel.
It is really spectacular. A huge wagon with a giant statue of Abe Lincoln. You can park right next to it as it in front of the hotel in the parking lot. We took a lot of pictures. One of the many things you have to see if traveling along the historic Route 66.
This is just one of those roadside things that you should see if you are close. You can drive right up to it and take pictures as it is across the street from the Best Western and adjacent to the parking lot. It looks just like the pictures and there is a small plaque to read which gives some interesting information.
Don’t worry, you won’t miss it, it is right alongside Route 66. Turn right at the traffic lights on Route 66 in Lincoln to pull into the car park of a motel to take your photos of the official Guinness book of records worlds’ largest covered wagon, with Abe Lincoln sitting on it. A quick and easy photo opportunity.
If you are traveling RT 66 this is a must stop. Lincoln is the only town named after our 16th president BEFORE he was elected. Get your photo taken with Lincoln on the world's largest covered wagon, a Midwest icon.
It appears to be undergoing repairs right now: No wheels, no cover, and no giant Abe. Still cool, but not as impressive. No signs as to when it will be back to its former glory.
I found this out front in grass lot of the town's Best Western. It had been moved there. As I pulled up my wagon, the clouds were ominous as President Lincoln road his wagon near Route 66! It was a nice sight and I got a couple pictures just as a heavy storm rolled in. I could picture him riding it, even through a storm. Plaques in front. It would be a quick stop.
This may not be true to good ol' Abe reading a book while riding in a covered wagon, but it's a wonderful place for a photo op!
