Marion Library is really a great place with a teen area upstairs with large reading selection, computers and video Gaming area, the main floor has a huge reading area, computers, and coffee snack area, the basement level is the children's library with reading story hour, and a really sweet staff.
Superb children's area downstairs with puppet theater, toys, games and, of course, books. The librarians are all so helpful and friendly that the welcome you will receive is genuine.
Marion's Carnegie library is excellent. You can register and get a card then you can check out books and videos for free. What my family really appreciates the most is all the kids activities they have. They have a huge room downstairs with kids toys, books, and they have weekly activities for kids of all ages at no cost. Last year we attended a free Christmas event where kids got their picture with Santa and a small free gift. Their website is:http://www.marioncarnegielibrary.org/
We were looking for the library to search for some possible genealogy on the Shelton Gang. The library was a bit hard to find, but once there, I told the two librarians why I was looking, because I was born a Shelton, and they both said "Me, too!" We were there reading newspaper stories and such for hours. They were great help, and not just to my husband and me. Anyone who came in was quickly greeted and assisted. It may be a small-town library, but they sure do have a lot of information about Prohibition and the Shelton Gang.
