We heard from friends this place was cool, and they were right. Its a cool place to get away and enjoy some simple fun. They have hay bales for jungle gyms which the kids loved, giant tree swings, a tree house, piglet races, hayrides, pony rides and the corn maze. Everyone we came across who works there had a smile on and asked if we needed any assistance. We will definitely be back next year!!
We were planning to go, but my son's day care scheduled a trip there on a non school day so I let him do it then. He loved it but he said 4 hours in group activity was not enough for him and he wanted to go back because he had fun!So, we went back the next weekend and spent another 6 hours doing the maze, playing far, games, watching pig races, playing in the tree house, seeing the animals, picking out a pumpkin. etc. We packed a picnic and drinks but there was vendors on site (it was pricy though as were beverages).Farm was clean (they encouraged recycling) with plenty of trash areas around and staff emptying them. The port-o-potties were kept clean by two nice ladies ... And I always think they are nasty. These were usable though.Staff was pleasant and helpful. Even willing to help you out to your car with your pumpkin(s).The neighbor who posted about snakes and traffic just does not want people in their neighborhood. Snakes and what not at are apart of any environment. It has nothing to do with it being a farm or a corn field. We saw absolutely nothing out there unpleasant. Those poor snakes go away from all the action.
Fall fun just outside of Tampa. Feels a little like entertainment for the city slickers. Way cheaper and more family fun than the strawberry festival. Definitely packed the parking lot but did not feel like theme park full. Lots of included stuff todo and there were a few add-ons like pumpkin painting potato guns etc. The maze was pretty cool. Don't listen to that neighbor-hater, it's a great event.
I live on the same road as the "farm". I must say that besides the dangerous traffic the maze causes at the corner of Wilson and 41, there is a serious threat to those who park far away and walk in...people tend to drive fast down Benes roush rd. If you or your children take one false step, you're going to end up as road kill. Then there's the constant threat of venomous snakes. We've had rattlers, coral snakes and cotton mouths in our yard, (right next door). Who wants to trek around a maze and get struck by a viper? I personally called the fire Marshall the first year it was open to complain about the gate only letting one car in or out at a time. Talk about a serious safety issue! The owner was forced to put in the proper gate, because the neighbor told on him! How many other dangers are on that "farm"? The first year they charged $8.50 admission. Now its $21.00!!!! Save your money and perhaps your life and go to a professional place of entertainment, like Lowry park zoo, or the aquarium. Even Homosassa wildlife park is leas expensive!
The kids were bored, the maze is small( more like 2 acres,) which was very disappointing, and the activities on the farm are very limited to say the least. hay ride and thats really it. Will not waste my time again
We came for the sunflower maze and are happy we did even though the bad weather knocked down more than half of the sunflowers. The flowers we did get to see were beautiful. I really loved the U-Pick produce option. We picked blackberries, squash, peppers and eggplants. Prices were great. And don't leave without a lemonade! I was only sad they didn't have any sunflowers for me to purchase.
We went to the Sunflower maze and it was a lot of fun. Our 5 year old really enjoyed it. I can't wait for the Fall maze, we definitely plan on coming back.
This was my first visit to this farm for the mazes and pumpkin farm activities. I went with my two grandchildren ages 3 and 6 and my grown son. I did not care to have to wait in the reserve parking yard for 20 mins with 2 small kids just to get in as they got bored really quickly, Once we did get in, I thought admission was way TOO EXPENSIVE ( $21). There were lines for some of the activities like the corn maze so we opted not to wait in a long line and allow the kids to run around a bit. We purchased a Coke which was in a old fashioned bottle but it seemed a waist to throw it away when we were done. A recycle bin would have been nice. We did not purchase a pumpkin from there either since it was VERY expensive. We stopped at Walmart on the way home and bought them. I just cant justify paying $25 for a pumpkin, We stayed about 90 mins. The kids petted the goats and played in one kids maze and you could not get near the tree house. This might a good place for schools to visit on a field trip but it is not something I would go to again. It was just too pricey to give your child that pumpkin farm experience.
My wife and I decided to check out Sweetfields Farm this year as we heard it is a lot of fun. During the fall, they have a corn maze, pig races, playgrounds, hay rides and much more. It is a great attraction for families.
3rd & final visit here; 2nd time in fall & one spring field trip with my child's school. While they have upgraded the farm, there isn't enough to do during the wknd fall festival. Corn maze is boring & frustrating, not enough vendors/food options & admission is pricey. Owners are very rude. They voluntarily open their farm, charge a lot for admission, & then act put out that you're there. Not friendly at all. We had issues with them last fall, again at a spring field trip, & again today. They are definitely characterized by being rude & act ungrateful for the business; definitely not an isolated issue & we definitely won't return. Best for kids under 5....nothing for older kids.
Sunflower and cornfield maze!! Great for kids and a wonderful family outing. Maze is seasonal so check for time of year.
Had heard about their Fall corn maze but then learned they do a SPRING sunflower maze, too! We were there on Sunday and spent about six hours "doing" things..MAZE takes about an hour to do. They lady at entrance gives you a list of questions. If you answer a question yes, you go left and no goes right at the junction. There are junctions with no questions, so we took turns hitting dead ends and our laughter could be heard outside the maze. STORYTELLER: He has a bench in front of him and when the bench fills up, he thrills you with good old fashion story telling, some of which he made up on the spot. Delightful old gentleman who enjoys his craft. I bought both of his CDs (not required) at $10/each.SCAVENGER HUNT: Be sure to bring a camera along for this part. You have to take pics of the item to show when you get back to start point-approx 15 minutes-lots of running around and our family was the lucky team-We won a basket of fresh from the field green beans!POTATO SACK RACE: We all remember this one-prize was bag of kettle corn. WATER PUMP DUCK RACE: Clever old time water pumpers that push the duck to the other end of pvc pipe.PIG RACE: The children cheer the pigs alongLots of photo ops here with the cut out face for your child or you but a different one is where you lure the billy goat (see pics) to put his head throughThere's a tree house, a hay ride, flower pot painting ($3) and much more to see and do.The only food they sold were 2-Nathan Hot dogs, with chips and drink for $10-a bit pricy.Pack a picnic, take bottle drinks, wear closed toe shoes and hat and have a wonderful time! They have a list of what veggies and fruits are ready for picking. You pick it at one price or you can buy it at $1 more if they pick it and put it in barn (see pic)Never saw such a beautiful barn before.$8.50 per adultCheck their site-Are in Masaryktown not Brooksville off Route 41Warning: Bathrooms are Port-o-potties
Beautiful family owned farm. Down home and simple. We did the night time corn maze. A group of people were there with alcohol they snuck in making a lot of noise and doing something's that really shouldn't be done in public and the owner addressed it right away. Very professional. His daughter was there helping and was sweet and cute as can be. Such a fantastic place and well run. Can't wait for the night maze this year.
My best friend and I went to the farm on 11/3/12, a trip we had planned for two months, attempting to fit it into our busy schedules. It was well worth the wait and planning. We arrived in the early afternoon; a time that seemed to be perfect with just the right number of people there. After paying our entry fee of $8.50 each, we entered through the barn. The hayride was just arriving from the corn maze so we were able to jump right on and make our way over to the maze. After receiving our instructions and clues, we began our journey through the maze. We were so disappointed in the "destruction" created by previous people, with the farm owners having to put up barriers of tape discouraging others from creating the same "shortcuts" in the maze. These previous people had basically trampled down large areas of the maze in order to find their way through without actually using the path created by the farm owners. This really saddened us because it ruins things for anyone who comes to the maze after this destruction has happened. We gave a lot of props to the owners who really tried to fix these areas without disrupting the flow of the maze. After completing the maze, we walked around the farm to visit the various areas. Our first stop was to see Rosie Moo Moo, the farm's pregnant and very cute cow. Rosie is used as one of the clues in the maze, which helps kids and adults alike see the pairing of the maze with the farm's residents. Next, we decided to go around to look at the fields of produce, or at least what was left. This also allowed us to take some pictures of various parts of the farm. We learned that nearly all of the animals on the farm are female, all except the roosters! We decided that the goats were the silliest of all the animals, with the three little potbellied pigs being the funniest. We watched the three little oinkers (Peanut, Butter and Jelly) race around the track for a best of three race. Yaaay for Butter who won two of the three races! While we were there, we watched several pumpkin races, from visitors both young and old, and everyone seemed to enjoy this activity! The farm has various food and drink available for purchase, as well as a limited supply of apple cider (this apple season has been particularly difficult for farmers nationwide). All in all we had a wonderful time at the farm and have made plans to come back for the Sunflower Maze in the early summer months. We are also looking forward to coming back to pick some wonderful produce, most especially blackberries in June.Should you want a place for the whole family to enjoy, you wont be disappointed in Sweetfields Farm!! (To give you an idea of what age(s) will enjoy the farm, my friend and I are in our late 40's!!)
Great Pumpkin Patch. Hayrides, Corn Maze and so much more for the little ones to do. Really feels like fall when you visit the farm.
