My wife and I had a several hours between Orlando hotel checkout and airport checkin so we drove up to Blue Spring State Park and here to Gemini Springs. It's a good several-hour pairing. This park is a nice mixture of groomed play areas and mowed general functionality as well as wilder hiking areas. I had never hiked 'wilder' Florida areas; driven past or flew over, but never walked. The 'woods' looked as thick and wild as many of the Wisconsin woods I'm used to but with tropical palm vegetation. The trails are about 10 feet wide and we were always talking/joking about meeting an alligator or snake on the path (which didn't happen). It was a very nice walk around. The springs are visible from the trail as were hundreds of fish beds and a 2 foot long water snake. The large group picnic area is VERY rustic and away from the main area, and the connecting bike paths looked inviting if we had more time. Overall, this is a nice place to go relax, walk, fish, and chat. (We did NOT see any alligators-unlike the previous reviewer…yikes!)
We attended a wedding at th is park on 2/14/15. A beautiful alligator basked in the sun along the embankment. The wedding was completely ruined when park officials walked up to the gator and shot him in the head on front of our children. We understand public safety but this could have been handled differently...the gator had been there the entire morning and early afternoon before they shot him. Disgusting behavior ...these park oofficials should be reprimanded for their insensitivity.
This park is a beautiful park. Very nice for walking, springs are beautiful. We happened to be there when the fish were spawning and there were many dozens and dozens of spawning beds everywhere. This is a wonderful place to take a breakfast/lunch break and enjoy the beauty.
Nice small park, lots of bike trails, pavilion places to rent for events such as weddings etc. Pet friendly! Used to be a fee to get in at the entrance, not sure if it was waived due to the season or not but I did not have to pay.
The park is a real nice place. There is a nice bike and walking trail to shed your energy and a pounds. From what I see, many enjoy fishing off the dock as well. The water is so clear, you can see the fish.
I love the springs in Florida & this was no exception. There are two spring heads which converge & flow into a large area of water before flowing into Lake Monroe. There is a lot of wildlife to be seen here & there are several trails & camping in tents is permitted.
I recently went to this park two days in a row. On the first day I went to the park with my mom to walk around. On the second day I went to the park to take pictures of a couple for their engagement pictures. There was also a wedding going on that day. This is a wonderfully maintained park. There is a playground for kids to play on and a huge field that can serve multiple purposes. There is a very nice trail around the park for viewing nature and hiking. There is a nice boardwalk in the back of the park for fishing and relaxing. There is even a dog park for the dogs. I really love going to the park and I highly suggest it as it is free.
This is a good fresh water fishing spot and excellent park for bird watchers. There is a dog park, children's playground and picnic areas.. Very clean and safe. I have been to a couple of weddings there.
The first time I visited this park I was awe struck. Old, old trees with hanging bracelets of moss made me think of the Hansel and Greta tale. The marshes,a habitat for so many forms of life, from scurrying fish to alligators to beautiful birds, was a treat for the eyes. This was the first time I ever saw a "bottlebrush tree" sitting majestically along the bank, ablaze with red color. There are clean facilities,a ball field, a dog park, a play ground, picnic facilities, a genuine spring feeding the marshes, a playground, a fishing dock, need I say more. It was indeed Nature's magic kingdom.
An Awesome park with free entrance and an open view of nature. There are two open doggie parks and runs for the 4 legged friends, and a lovely vast area to walk with the owners. The field is open to all and there is space for football games, bike riding, and plenty of pavilions to sit and relax or rent for the day at only $ 35 for half a day or even full day depending on season. We like the smokehouse pavilion .The playground is kept clean and well maintained for ages 18months to age 10+ The other areas include camping, over sized parking grass areas for full flag football games, or parties. The bike trails lead around the park, and down to other parks by the lake. They are all paved and all ages welcome, the views are stunning and rest areas are located with picnic tables, so bring along a snack and enjoy the outdoors for free.
We rode our bikes to this park on the wooded trail from Lake Monroe Park. This appears to be a very busy family park with ball fields, pavillions and water areas. It is nice to visit.
Gemini is a great park to take the kids, dogs, or just go for a run. Nice paved trail system for running or biking. Lots of open space inside the park for activities. Pavilions available for picnics.
This is a park I like to go on a weekly basis. i have been coming here for the past 10 plus years to enjoy festivities(when going on - eg. July 4th, Riverfest, youth arts, music, ...). There is a nice, paved bike path that goes to Debary Hall and / or Lake Monroe boat landing. I especially like bringing our iguanas to swim in the spring. There are two native alligator residents in the spring that are curious about their small cousins. The park has plenty of parking and even camping.
We love the trail that runs thru this park. Great place for bikers, walkers, skaters, couples and families. You can usually spot an eagle or two along the power lines and some deer in the clearings near dusk.
Awesome park with free entry! You can't swim in the springs anymore, but there are a lot of trails to walk and a nice bike path. They also have a really great dog park. There's pavilions to rent, a kids playground, and just really nice grounds in general. Check it out!
