As annual passholders we've gone to both the day and night safari a few times. The night safari is a bit more expensive but definitely worth doing; food and beverages at the Crown Colony, a campfire talk, a walk around to see the animals at night (definitely a different perspective) top it off with a drive feeding the giraffes at night and back at the Crown Colony for delicious desserts. Now here is a special treat; while the regular staff does a great job hosting the night safari; no "script" the experience is very interactive, informational; and entertaining and many have been to Africa and well traveled. We make it a point to monitor and jump on the tickets for the Serengeti Night Safari hosted by Jack Hanna. It is no surprise these tickets go super fast but a visit with Jack is all that more special. The experience is extraordinary, again with him as well there is no "script" he just interacts with the audience and talks about his experiences - it flows so well - entertaining and informative and he is just naturally funny and laid back. If you can get the tickets when he is here do so - it's just that much more special, but don't deny yourself the Night Safari it is something you'll enjoy and remember. Well worth it!
Did the night safari for the first time and wasn't sure what to expect. We ended up having so much fun. The guides make the event. Very friendly and funny and so knowledgable. You can tell they love their job. They had a good selections of drinks and appetizers . The only miss was it would have been nice to have had hot drinks while sitting around the fire, they did supply warm blankets as it was chilly the night we went. I personally prefer the day safari .with that said, the night event is for adults only and had a lot of good photo ops so do BOTH if the budget allows.
Enjoyable day or nightIt's enjoyable to see animals in a semi natural habitatWe also enjoy that aspect of being able to interact with some of the animals especially the giraffesWould be nice to spend a little more time on the tour
I am an annual pass holder, I also bought them for my daughter and son (he is Legally Blind, Physically and Mentally Handicapped) and there are lots of things for him to do, he likes riding the train, sky ride and going to the shows. During the summer they have night concerts and shows which he loves to listen to. When you purchase the annual pass you also get free parking, so you can go and not spend any money if you did not want to. If you do get the annual pass you also get 10% off anything you buy.
My husband and I did this tour recently and loved it. Ride through the Serengeti was cool but petting and feeding the giraffes was even better! We loved this experience and would do it again :) Good value for money!
This is a half hour long, $30 and worth it. Good overall about the animals on display and feeding the Giraffes.
We have done this several times and love it. You really get close to the animals and even get the chance to feed them.
The was hands down my most favorite thing to do at Busch Gardens. You feel like you own the park as they let you roam part of it after dark. What a great experience.
It is very nice, but not worth the money. I wouldn't pay that again. Maybe I expected more than that , just was kind of middle of the road.
My son wanted to see the Giraffes and I finally agreed. I was pleasantly surprised of how much fun this attraction was. We will definitely visit again
Love,Love,Love! My most favorite amusement park. Disappointed they have gone up on their prices again.Renew your monthly payments don't let expire, your price will go up double at that point. We always take out of town guest here and BG does offer good specials for our company. They use to have great concerts. Love the animals and some of the rides. Good BBQ. Like the shows but should be changed more often. Lots of walking or good exercising. Rental scooters are available for rent. Lots of handicap free parking. Others may pay $14. to park. Question? Why is handicap free? Does that mean they all can't afford it while the rest of us can? Fun park, your first time? You will enjoy.
We booked this experience as something to do as I recently found out I was pregnant so unable to go on the rides. What a little treat this was! For under $35 this was a lovely little treat for our day out. We did our experience during the day (not offered an evening one, although as we arrived at 10, doing the safari at 2 was perfect timing). The information was informative and made you realise how endangered some animals are. Our guide was able to answer all questions with in depth answers, and of course how could you not love the opportunity to hand feed a giraffe! On board photographer who takes plenty of photos, but you can also take your own camera on too. Photos can be a bit pricey ($20 for 1 print) but if there is a group of you you can buy a DVD with all the images for $40 (our photographer took over 200 photos!) Lovely little 30 minute trip!
this was an amazing experience to be able to feed the Giraffes,it's a shame that you have to pay the full entrance fee to get into Busch Gardens & then an extra fee to do the Safari trip. the plus side for us was that we were the only 4 people doing the last Safari so had the jeep to ourselves with the guide & photographer so we had great photo opportunities & space to move around the truck without being cramped or struggling to get good shots. Cupid the giraffe was very obliging to let us feed her & so very gentle for a wild animal AMAZING a MUST do
We went in February for a special Valentine's Day event. Beyond the animal truck and feeding the giraffes, we had a lovely, romantic dinner at the Crown Colony Restaurant. It is pricey, but well worth it! You do not have to pay extra park admission, if you go to the event after the park has closed. The "guides" were great, and they even let us use night vision goggles to see the animals in their natural habitat and undisturbed. We sat around a campfire and enjoyed wine, beer and soda while they told us about the animals surrounding us. I would highly recommend this adults-only event!
The meeting time is just before the park closes and the meeting place is easily reached by following the BLUE LINE. You meet at The CROWN COLONY gate. This is a 21 and over event. You first meet your guides who take you to the Crown Colony restaurant for hors d' houvres and cocktails. The guides begin by telling you about the park and what we would see. We had two very knowledgeable guides and the servers of the food/beverages were just great! Wear comfortable shoes and practical clothing. You will walk quite a bit and on uneven surfaces and it can be quite dark...DO NOT TAKE FLASHLIGHTS. They have the special filter lights that do not bother the animals. The heavy hors d' houvres were great! They had spannikopita, cheeses, Swedish meatballs, hummus and shrimp cocktail. Excellent! Don't eat dinner! They had many beers on tap and many wines as well as sodas/water. After eating and drinking and allowing the park to clear out, they take you on a walking tour where we saw the lions right up against the glass (they feed them to get them up close/personnal), the hippos, the pink flamingos. There is a restroom break while walking...that took 20 min or so. They also handed out some "night vision" spotting scopes...these were ok. Then, we boarded trucks to go on safari. You have to hang on and have good balance on the trucks. You tour the safari range. We saw the rhinos up close and then got to feed one of the giraffes...GREAT PHOTO OP! Watch out, they can salivate on you a little, nothing major...just don't go all dressed up for a night out. Then we parked on the "plains" and were given an opportunity for beer/soda/water by the fire pit and listened to stories from our guides. You then go up a 4 step ladder, they will assist you, and re-board the truck to go back to the Crown Colony restaurant for coffee and an African liqueur with desserts. The desserts were delicious! Several varieties. We then tipped our guides and said good bye to all of our new friends. This is a fantastic trip! San Diego has a better safari experience BUT the uniqueness of the night with such a small group, cocktails and great food made this a FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!!! I would suggest calling if you require a wheel chair/walker but I feel sure they would accomodate. We tipped our bartender and the guides but felt like we should've brought smaller bills for the servers. These young men and women worked long hours to show us fun and educate us about the wildlife and conservation. We highly recommend!
