Bathroom facilities available and large parking lot with public beach access. Vehicles can park on beach. Out of town plates must purchase a permit to do so. Not sure why they even allow vehicles on beach, takes away from beauty.
I wouldn't characterize Peter's Point as a "park". Nevertheless, it is a major access point for the beach. Parking lot is enormous - horse trailers use it to access the beach for horseback riding. Vehicles can access the beach (non-county residents need to purchase a beach access permit). You never know what activities you will see there: horseback riding, bicycling, kayaking, surf paddling, motorized paragliding. We were fortunate one day to see the motorized paragliders setting up and taking off.
A good try with life guards, nice boardwalks, places for families to eat and spread out, if you aren't run over first by the people driving on the beach. Occasionally patrolled by police to keep the rabble-rousers in check. We've been coming to this beach for more than 20 years. Most of the people who drive on the beach mind their manners but there are some who drive too fast, drink too much and don't pick up after themselves or their dogs. It would be so much nicer to have only pedestrian traffic. Leave the vehicles in the parking lot.
Lots of shells here!and flocks of terns...not so many people in February so it made for a lovely walk with the dog.I could easily send a whole day here with a chair and a good book. peaceful but just off the main drag if you need food and drinks.
My wife and I walk the beach every morning. Every other morning we head south to Peter's to find trucks on the beach, people sitting in their cars, and the RV getting set up to sell food at the park. It's interesting they let you stay overnight just not more than 24 hours. There are bathrooms and a large parking area. Amelia Is. certainly has a lot of green space and access to the beautiful beach.
Walked on the beach. Saw 2 ladies riding horseback on the beach which was awesome. Nice picnic area next to parking area.
Peters Point is a Nassau Country public day-use park located just north of the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island. The park offers abundant free parking, picnic shelters, restrooms with showers, drinking water, wheelchair beach access and drive-on beach access (4-wheel drive vehicles). The beach immediately at the park is beautiful--wide with a gentle slope. A food truck or two sometimes sets up at the edge of the parking lot, but if you go, bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages if you are planning an extended outing. Regarding beach driving, follow the posted signs pointing out where to access the beach and where beach driving is allowed. Also, non-Nassau County residents are required to obtain a permit to drive on the beach. Nassau County's website and Ameliaislandliving.com identify the locations were nonresidents can acquire a permit. The park is generally well maintained, but the restrooms and showers need some repair and could use an upgrade. This is a minor criticism of an otherwise great public park.
Peters point is so amazing, in fact my grandfather requested that be the point where we put his ashes.peters point is majestic and brings you back to the amazement of the ocean.
My husband and I rode the entire route along A1A. It is an excellent trail. You have to cross A1A several times, but the drivers are wonderful and let you through
Loved the broad beach and the fact it was not crowded. Shell seekers would be able to find some good ones here.
This is a popular county beach with plenty of parking and beach access for county residents. There are lifeguards during the summer with covered areas for picnics. the bathrooms need updating but are useable.
Great beach!! I prefer it when I had my 4x4. You def have to have four wheel drive to drive on the beach here. It can get crowded.
This place gets crowded from Memorial Day through Labor Day. It is perfect though. There are a few picinic tables near the parking lot and a water sprayer to get the sand off before you get in your car!
view is stunning. Facilities are worn but kept clean - restrooms and showers. parking is beyond ample. boardwalk is very nice. we used this park as a rally point for biking. we saw multiple horse trailers which we took to mean riding on the beach might leave from here as well.
Peters Point is a public beach with a huge parking lot and basic restroom facilities and showers. You can park and walk to the beach or if you have good four wheel drive you can drive onto the beach. Visitors need to buy a beach pass at the store at Slider's traffic circle. During the Summer, you will get fined if you don't have a beach pass in your car, if you want to drive onto the beach.Very busy beach with life guards in season. Well patrolled by local police.
