Stopped by the Snowflake Museum on our way to do some skiing nearby. It is in a beautiful, well-preserved, historic mill building. There is a very nice gift shop in addition to the museum itself. The museum was quite interesting, showing many images made by Bentley of the snowflakes he studied as well as some of the equipment he used, background information, and family photographs. There is no cost to visit, and it was an fun and educational way to spend about 45 minutes. Very enjoyable.
There is so much to see at the Snowflake Bentley Museum! It is well worth a visit! The actual camera equipment as well as the pictures of snowflakes makes me appreciate how much time and effort was put into setting up this exhibit. Parking is easy, and Joe's Snackbar is right next door for a treat after your visit!
Nice town for a day trip. Or stay at a B&B in town. Jericho Cafe and Tavern - excellent food and ambiance in a completely restored farmhouse. Just across the street and on the waterfall is the Old Red Mill and Snowflake Bentley Museum and Craft store. The waterfall is popular with photographers. The museum houses the artifacts of a young boy who was the first person to ever photograph a snowflake. The craft store is delightful to browse. All handmade in VT.Travel a little further north on Rt. 15 and you will find unique Village Gifts and Toy Store.Snowflake Chocolates.Palmer Lane Maple Products and Creemies.Mill RiverSide Park. Beautiful place to stretch your legs or your pet's legs.
