Trinity Episcopal is a small church with Tiffany glass windows. The interior is intimate and Victorian in atmosphere. Parish hall in back is large and airy with a large function room. Used often by smaller wedding parties.
This church, right on Rte 7 in the middle of Shelburne, was revamped by heirs to the Vanderbilt fortune before WWI. The stained glass windows in the nave are grisaille by Tiffany - unusual for his studio, delicate, subtle. The pews are original. As beautiful as the windows are the walls and ceiling. Both walls and ceillings are stenciled in gold, or bright colors in floral designs. The lecturn and pulpit are handsome. An interesting feature for Catholic and Protestant churchgoers is the fact that while the sancturary appears to be that of a "High Episcopal Church," the hymnals include the most modern with joy and praise songs in addition the approved hymnal of the 1980s. We visited on a weekday when the church was locked; going around the back to the office, however, the staff were delighted to let us into the church giving us time to reflect, then visit the small parish hall and memorial garden.
