We tried the snowshoeing trails on a blustery January day after a 2 inch snow the night before. We were concerned if we would be mud-shoeing or have enough snow. We were not disappointed at all. They asked how much time we had and they sent us on a 1 1/2 half hour jaunt which covered three miles. We covered open fields and really nice trails. Cost was only $12 each. They provided a trail map which was helpful underway. They have tons of trails for all abilities. We had our own equipment, but you can get rentals on site. A must see and enjoy.
Even though I live in Vermont, this was my first experience on cross country skis. Ole’s is a good place to start and/or learn. The terrain is flat, the trails are well groomed, and it’s not crowded. Ole’s is located at the Warren Airport which is closed to air traffic in the winter. They use the terminal as an office and shop. The airport restaurant was open when we went, so you can get a hot drink and lunch while you wait for friends or after a tiring afternoon of skiing. If you are not a downhill skier, this is a great opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors when you are visiting Vermont. The scenery at the airport is spectacular, you are in the open the entire time, and unlike Blueberry Hill Ski cross-country ski area where you are meandering thru the woods (which is very nice but I love the sunshine on a cold Vermont day)Dress warm, they are all the gear you need available for rent, plus instructors if you want to take a lesson.
Great terrain, both open and wooded; great tracks, both for skating and classical; great views all around, both big (Sugarbush and Mad River) and small (farms, meadows, and streams). Terrific skiing in late March...loved it.
VERY well groomed trails. Beautiful scenery. The wife and I are snowshoe-ers and while there are a few nice snowshoeing trails, it's more an x-country ski place. That being said, it was still a great time. Easy going. Plenty of parking. Healthy food available. And it's quiet. Give yourself 3 to 4 hours to get it all in.
Jan 18 - Jan 22 / 2 beginners/intermediate -> First time of the year and we were very pleased with the scenic views, the trails and the service we had. Also, there's a nice small restaurant offering healthy snacks and lunches. A definite keeper around this area.
