Went on a golf trip with a group of friends and played here a few times during the trip. Had a tour of the locker room area and had lunch there too. The courses were in fantastic shape, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was pretty good for a golf course. I'd go back.
was in town and got to see the WGC - great event and really nice as we got to use a corporate house on the course. Beautiful place - well worth the visit
Loved the South Course where the pro's play the Bridgestone Invitational. They have 3 amazing courses.
While the men played golf, we women arrived a bit early to join them for a post-round lunch. The clubhouse is really beautiful, the women's locker room has all the amenities you'd want, and the balcony view overlooking the golf course (perhaps it's the north course?) gave us a wonderful perspective on the immaculate course and gorgeous plantings around the club house. The weather was perfect so we ate outdoors and enjoyed great service and a delicious lunch, including the wraps, a burger, and a really delicious shrimp and avocado salad with chipotle dressing.
The course was in spectacular condition for the Schwab PGA Tournament. The organizers really did a great job establishing a friendly venue for families where kids could actively play and parents could tour the course.
Attended a company sponsored dinner at Firestone. Excellent service and food. The steaks were perfectly done and lobster was also perfectly cooked and not dry. There were easily over 200 people, yet the service allowed for that and kept the food fresh. I did not feel that my meal had been piled up with others for 20-30 minutes. It was very good. This venue provides a first class event for a company, wedding, or other banquet.
If you find yourself lucky enough to attend the tournament at Firestone, prepare to be amazed. The annual Bridgestone event is conducted like a world class orchestra. From the general parking lot personnel to those lucky enough to soldier the crowd at the 18th green. Everyone absolutely engaged in their job/task and doing it with a smile, helpful tip or gentle reminder, to obey the rules. The timing and coordination are a result of years of practice and an army or repeat volunteers that know what it takes to secure a coveted spot for next years performance. A short walk from your car to a waiting clean, air conditioned, music filled bus to the entry drop point. From there an easy walk thru the gates and security and then on to the entry with covered walls of past winners. Then on to your experience, the Bridgestone golf experience area with booths, merchandise, golf experts and virtual golf for the kid in you or with you. Plenty of restroom port-a-lets, with excellent wash stations and hand sanitizer. Food court has options for just about everyone from breakfast thru dinner. The scattered concessions are fantastic. 1st and 10th tee boxes allow for ample viewing sitting or standing. But you owe it to yourself to walk around and follow a golfer or two. The grounds are immaculate. The ground control is top notch and the common areas are well groomed, cleaned constantly and spacious. Do visit the Clubhouse pro shop and the practice range too. Stay for the evening and enjoy an outdoor concert. If you are a golfer, golf fan, or enjoy sharing a classic Ohio event with friends or colleagues, then make a plan to visit next year. You will not be disappointed.
Have been to Firestone on multiple occasions and this by far has been the best. Upgrades to the facilities, landscaping, etc. Staff is helpful, food excellent...oh, and the golf - some of the best with the 3 courses.
Greens like glass, roughs like glue. Both North and South are amazing. The water makes the North a handful in a few spots, the narrow fairway on some make the South challenging beyond belief. Good idea for the South to get a caddy to make sure you can find your ball, unless you always hit straight. They have recently updated the facilities but still have kept a classic feel. Service is fantastic as you would imagine. I stayed two nights in the villas and was very pleased, plenty of hot water and soft towels. If you golf this place needs to be on your bucket list, just practice that chip shot as much as you can before you go. I will absolutely return and recommend.
As a new member of the club, I'm partial.... but let me say, it's an awesome experience to be part of this club. The clubhouse is first class... the restaurants and bars are top notch, and the golf is wonderful. Even the room and villas (if you want to spend the night there) are very nice.... makes for a wonderful destination for out of towners looking to have a truly memorable experience.Given that the PGA has been here every year for many many years, is only a bonus. Do what you can to give this place a shot on your trip to NE Ohio.
I had the chance to attend another customer golf outing at Firestone Country Club on June 8 and 9. What a lovely place! Great service, fantastic staff and a fantastic golf experience. Thank you Firestone!
Golfers-SOS-Don't miss if you get the chance !I've played many rounds with friends that belong over the years, have slept there, gone to many pro events and have dined BF,lunch and dinner many times as well.I have played and gone to tournaments all over this country and can tell you FS is a cut above. For a golfer it's heaven on earth,a place that you can really sink your teeth into the short time you are their. It oozes history and exemplifies class in every way.How can you not absolutely love and cherish every moment you are their. They pamper you as though you are king.Greg Norman once said,"It's the best facility other than Augusta we play every year.Obviously,Tiger loves being their as well. Can't wait til my next FS (doesn't matter what course) experience !!
Have played both the South (championship) and North for client outings, typically under tournament conditions. Outstanding staff and facilities.
Firestone is one of those places that should be in a Master Card commercial............"Priceless". 54 holes of classic northern golf, no RR ties, no tricked up holes, just pure golf. See why this is Tiger' s favorite course. Rental villas are classic "man cave". Food and beverage are both high quality with great service. A must for any lover of the game.
If you want to play golf on one of the best venues in the world, you need to come to Akron. The care they take in keeping the South course perfect is amazing. There are several courses in the area so if the South course is over your skill level you have choices. If you want to attend a WGC event this is the must do. It's a tough but fair course. Costs are on the high side but the $8 bloody marys are definitely worth it.
