A nice design that gives golfers of all levels a challenge.Course conditions can be a bit spotty at times but pretty typical of a public course.Condition of the greens are very firm but putt true and in good shape for a public course with the usual ball marks to fix.Decent clubhouse and can handle outings. Saw some folks there for wedding so guess you can add special events as well. Can get a bit crowded especially on the weekends but no more so than your usual public course near a large metropolitan area.
Formerly Tanglewood GC, Glen Ross mostly kept and rerouted the holes south of Cheshire Rd. and built 9 new holes (back 9) and a subdivision on the north side of the road. I tried hard to like this course because it has good bent-grass greens, is generally well-maintained, priced competitively and the staff worked hard to accommodate our group of 8, which included 3 young kids, on a fairly busy Sunday afternoon. However, the course suffers from a boring par 70 medium-length (from the blue tees) layout on a flat piece of former farmland with few dog legs. Deep rough, uncut prairie, a few water hazards and plenty of (unraked) traps provide the challenges on this otherwise open track with very wide fairways. One interesting hole... #9. Good place for family golf, especially for beginners, and outings- the new clubhouse has a large indoor banquet area with a big covered patio. Generally in good condition, but the watering on the back 9 left the green-side traps rock hard. The pro shop honored the discounted online pricing when I called. I used to love to walk Tanglewood, but long transits from green to tee, especially on the back 9, pretty much require that you ride. Decent pace of play... just over 4 hours. Convenient location, just east of Rt. 23.
