We purchased a few doughnuts and some fry pies - all were good but not near as good as Millers which is just down the road. They have a good selection but the place is always filled with tourists - so many are rude these days. While I was looking into the glass cases for my selection two women walked up and stood in front of me as if I wasn't there. I hate going to the local establishments and dealing with the tourists - we try to go on weekdays and off times to avoid them. Many items are overpriced as is the next door store. I recommend Troyers for baking supplies, cheese houses for cheese. The bavarian filled ladyfingers/long johns are very good as are the other doughnuts. Small selection of doughnuts but plenty of pies and cakes as well.
I returned here for the second time in September 2014. Still wonderful. The mini sowe had just had babies a week before. Adorable 3 tiny piglets. Wanted to take them home but not allowed in my town. The "big horse" a huge Belgian work horse is fastinating. Kids in the petting area where sqealing with joy at feeding and petting the animals. There were several sheep, goats and chickens waundering around the area. They even let the kids hold and play with the bunnies and pigmy goats. Don't forget to look up. The show on the roof is unique. Food products are sensational. Employees are all friendly, kind and well informed, and more than graciously willing to answer questions and share their knowledge. I even bought my pumpkins and gourds to bring back to Massachusetts. They lasted until after Christmas. Amazing. They do it all right.
Wow... What a great time! My wife and I love going everytime we are in Amish Country. The interaction with the animals at the petting zoo is so mush fun. The shopping in the bakery shop is the best in Amish Country. My wife and I got fresh rolls and some ham and made our own little picknick right there on the property. We will be back soon.
We did not visit any parts of the attraction--closed till spring. Looks like it needs a parking lot so not muddy. Only purchased some whoopie pies, which were excellent! Having made them myself at home and even had them in Maine, these were among some of the best!
Cannot wait to return for more fry pies! Rolls! It's all just wonderful, fresh and delicious! We're going back this weekend!
I have been coming to Holmes county for over 10 years. Hershbergers is always on our places to stop. They have great bakery goods, fresh fruits, vegetables, jellies etc. I love their dill pickles. Great animal area for the kids, wagon rides and crazy goats. I would strongly recommend stopping. Parking can be a problem during summer.
The best info. I can give you is if you are looking for baked good you better go as soon as they open if you want the best choices. Dont forget the puppies of all breeds.Fresh fruits & veg. in the summer & fall
We always go to get the fry pies which are excellent and enjoy the petting farm in the nicer weather with our grandson who enjoys seeing animals he would not see in the city where we live. We have also gotten fruit and vegetables as well as pumpkins when they are in season and enjoy the gift shop as well. The buggy tour they off is also a lot of fun and educational
Besides all of the good bakery and farm-fresh items, they're always adding animals to the barn and corral, as well as different rides. Fun place for kids as well as foodies.
While on our way to a reunion,we happened by this place and had to stop! So much going on. Goats on the roof of the building, livestock everywhere, puppies for sale and amish buggy rides. This place has it all ... a farm, a bakery and I will definitely go back when I'm in the area. All kinds of things to spend your money on...Pastries, homegrown fruits and vegetables, jams and jellies ... even a petting zoo for the young and young at heart. They are closed on Sundays Check out the photos and this Web linkhttp://www.ohiosamishcountry.com/listing/hershberger-farm-and-bakery.html
We stop at Hershberger Farm every year in the fall. The pumpkin selection is great, and there are many photo opportunities. There are buggy and wagon rides to pick your own pumpkin from a very large pumpkin field. There are several foods for purchase outside, including cider, kettlecorn, and sandwiches. From the bakery, the whoopie pies (also pumpkin) are reasonably priced and extremely fresh. We purchased the pumpkin bread for the first time, however it was not as moist as the whoopie pies. The animals are easily accessible, especially the large horse named Big Ben. There are goats that can be fed via an interesting pulley, where anyone for a nominal fee can purchase a cone full of goat feed. For the adults, the crafts for sale are reasonably priced and included handwoven rugs, purses, and leather belts.
This is a must place to stop on every visit to Amish country. Being an animal lover I love going through the barn and feeding the animals. The variety of produce is wonderful and baked good are absolutely delicious! Just enjoyed a cinnamon roll with a cup of coffee this morning, that we brought back. You won't be disappointed with this stop!
My husband and I recently visited here with his 5 year old son and my 2 grandkids, ages 2 and 9 months. We had to come here after visiting Rolling Ridge Ranch because my stepson wanted to ride a pony. He and my granddaughter enjoyed 2 pony rides, which were very inexpensive...$3 each. My grandson toddled around with the goats and calf that were roaming. They also took a wagon ride with a little boy, age 6, who was driving. Too cute! The food was very good. I especially loved the apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream and the onion rings were fabulous. I also had to get a large bag of kettle corn before leaving. Don't forget to stop inside of the store to pick up some yummies to go.
We bought our Maltese there in Feb and he is one of the best and healthy dog we have ever bought. We will again buy our other pup there, we are now looking for a pug puppy so when we see they have one we will be down there to get it
Had a nice time shopping produce and baked goods. Make sure to grab a fry pie! Fun to walk thru the barn to greet the animals and they will greet you!
