deshia, the country shoppe

My wife and I were in Ohio to attend a wedding. We left home (North Carolina) the previous Friday and, after visiting some attractions near our base (State Park at St. Marys), were making our way to the wedding in Defiance. I wanted to treat my wife (After two days of walking in the USAF Museum, she deserved it.), so I went online (The state park had wifi!). I discovered DeShia as one of the "Things to See" in Van Wert from the 4/11/13 review. Yes, it was the quintessential women's shop in which ladies just love to browse and "load up." What I liked about it was the super friendly, "make the customer happy and feel at home" atmosphere. We had a very reasonably priced tasty meal with the most pleasant music. I even enjoyed browsing a bit. To top it all off, another couple who dined at the next table, after some nice conversation, insisted on picking up our tab - a tribute to the friendly folks we encountered while on our stay in Ohio. A visit with Karen, the owner of DeShia, to dine on a day the cafe is open, and browse her interesting assortment of items is certainly worth the extra miles you may drive to get there if you are not already nearby. And men…Karen's husband has a golf shop in the same building!

This is one of the best little out of the way places that your husband hopes you will never find! DeShia is a country boutique gift shop full of new and unusual tasteful decorating items, purses, scarves, and bling. It's a place where you find things that your friends will all ask "Where on earth did you get that? And, when can we go!" Owners and staff are wonderful to work with and even offer a light lunch menu 3 -4 days a week. We've used this location for ladies mystery tours and shopping trips, and it is a HUGE success every time. Shop is unassuming from the outside - but bursting with delights on the inside. Food is fabulous. Many items are prepared from mixes and fixings that are found in the store. Recommend this location for groups up to 45 - 50 for lunch (MAKE SURE YOU GET ON THE SCHEDULE) or just dropping in for a day trip. Your husband will love Karen's husband. (the driving range is right next door while you're shopping!)
