It is also known as the Ohio historical society. This is a wonderful place to spend a day with the family, or by yourself. If its raining, cold, hot or a nice day it is a great place to spend your day. One of the most interesting is the native American exhibit which gives you an overview of how the different tribes lived over the hundreds of years here in Ohio. Try to visit when Ohio village is open it is a journey back in time to a small village in the 1800s.

Such a wonderful learning experience. Our kids had a blast in the village, and in the museum. Very hands on and creative

There is something for everybody at this museum whether young of old. I took my kids there many times and now they take their kids and every one enjoys it. In December, there is the added bonus of the Old Fashioned village being opened to the public, which my kids wanted to go to every year.

We had a great time visiting this museum and checking out the different exhibits. Our favorite section was the 1950s era Lustron house that you could walk through and see what life must have been like back then. There was even a "homeowner" there acting and showing us around his house. There are a variety of kid friendly activities to keep the kids engaged. Our 1 1/2 year old loved all the different things to do and she had the time of her life!If you visit during the warmer weather there is even more you can do outside!

A great place to visit when you have nothing else to do. It has such a variety of exhibits, something for ages 4-84!The historical village out back is nice during the nice weather, or even on a hot day. Nice to sit under the trees and enjoy the peacefulness!

A little bit of everything but for many a trip down memory lane as you visit the last century, especially a rebuilt interior home from the 50's complete with clothing.

We had not been to the Ohio Historical center for quite awhile. A good friend is one of the actors and had invited us to come and we were glad we did! Scrooge was great as was Marley. The entire atmoshere was fun and festive! The sights and sounds and smells took us back to a time long ago- great fun!

I have enjoyed this place every time of my visit. If it is to be found, you may find it here. Once I was researching history of my G-Grand-father as he attened a military reunion in Gettysburg, PA in 1913. Wow, did I find the answer; Yes, I did and more. I found a big book with all names that attended as well as 100 great quality black and white photos. This was the best kept secret of the Civil War until it was uncovered by me and now I tell everyone. Much more than Civil War Books in this place located by the Ohio State Fair.

Beautiful museum a wonderful place to explore and teach children. The research library is extensive providing major docs and resources to examine history & do genealogical studies. Staff were helpful and patient.

Our family enjoys the ohio history museum and the Ohio village adjoining it so much. They have great programs and exhibits all year long. Their Dickens of a Christmas event in the village is absolutely wonderful. The museum has a lot of great permanent collections and has wonderful special collections on display throughout the year.

While there are some exhibits that stay the same, they do have new temporary exhibits to keep you coming back. Another great selling point is the Ohio Village, which is a recreated 1860's town thst would have been typical in Ohio. They have many events the like Civil War events, 1800's baseball league games and knowledgeable docents and actors.

So much to see and look at. I'm a huge history buff, and for those others out there that love history, check it out! You won't regret it!

The family and i visited this while in Columbus for a soccer game and really enjoyed the exhibits. We love the 1950's history area...we wish we could have seen the village but ran out of time....looking forward to going back

This museum has an indoor and an outdoor section. The indoor portion has classic cars, a fire engine, Willy jeep, and more. The BEST PART was an entire house from the 1950's, all under one roof! You can look through all the closets and drawers, and touch anything in the house and back yard. It's like being in a time warp! Kids love it...Then comes the outside--A village from the 1860's, complete with 1-room schoolhouse, town hall, toy store, freight house, hotel, bank, etc. Living history reenactors are there every day. This place is worth your time. Best part? We hit it on 'Educator's Day' and they let us in for free, since I was a teacher, and we home school! No regrets!
