So much much to do. So many cool little restaurants and bars. If you are staying at a hotel in the Arena District, everything is in walking distance. If not staying in the area the garages are fairly inexpensive and there are parking meters everywhere. I recommend catching a Columbus Blue Jackets game if in season.
Between the new ballpark, Nationwide Arena, there are also about a dozen plus restaurants and bars that cater to a wide range of demographics. Nationwide, and the City, have done an amazing job renovating this part of Columbus.
Columbus is working hard to refine downtown entertaining and atmosphere : Arena District is a great part of that. The Arena District offers ample parking, dining options, bars, sports, and atmosphere. The nearby North Market (wish it stayed open later on game days) and restaurants in The Short North enhance the experience- within a few blocks you can find something to suit anyone. If you are in the Columbus area and looking for a fun place to hang out, the Arena District had something to offer each season.
Wow... is there anything not in this district! Great bars, fantastic eateries, cobble stone walkways... bridges... ambience galore! And this was February! Love to come visit in summer!!! Thanks Nationwide, you are definitely on Columbus' side!!!
Got to go to the Market Downtown, many variety foods and Jennis ice cream of corse! Its a short walk to downtown were there is tons of antique shops and fine restaurants
Loved how everything is within walking distance. We parked at the hotel and didn't need our car until it was time to leave. If you are staying in this area, don't waste money on a rental car. Take the shuttle from the hotel and walk everywhere!
We stayed in the Arena District during NHL All Star Weekend and it was great! Very clean, nice part of town with lots of restaurants/bars. Very walkable and easy to get around.
There are several restaurants in the ara but it's typically at least an hour wait. If there's an event going on, which there almost always is, it may be 2-3 hours for your wait time. The bars are always crowded and typically have a $5-$10 cover charge. But, if you don't mind the crowd, the wait, or the cover, it really is a good time. There is a reason it's always crowded, afterall.
In town for a hockey game. Stayed at Hyatt 3 blocks from the arena. Can walk to everything. parked car the whole weekend. Everybody seemed glad Penguins were in town, means alot of extra bisiness. Only problem were the husband and wife jerks at the game. Section 208 seats 3 & 4, two of the ugliest people God ever made. We had fun putting them i their place. Other than those two Columbus was great.
The Arena District located in downtown Columbus is home to the Blue Jackets Hockey Team at Nationwide Arena. The Arena also is host to several other events throughout the year. The Arnold Classic is probably the biggest and the longest. There are plenty of Restaurants, hotels, and shops within walking distance. Huntington Park, home of the Clippers Baseball Team is also very close.
We had a very hard time finding the arena. I had to make two phone calls to relatives to find it and I was even using my phone for directions. Maybe if it had been daytime--it would have not been so difficult.
Went to a hockey game but dined first in one of the many dining offerings. Good stadium and most fans were respectable of us visitors. Walked to the drinking establishments after. This is not Nashville but not bad.
Went to see CBJ win vs. the Flyers. Love the arena, crowd is good and atmosphere is fun and exciting. Need cheaper beer though...
The convention center is a strange place with rather sad looking stores in it. The north market is amazing with very diverse foods. I would go back.
Since I work in the Arena District I get around there quite a bit. The sports venues are great -- hockey and baseball -- lots of places to eat before and after the games too. Close to freeways so it is easy to get anywhere in the City. Especially close to the Short North and OSU.
