I went in the summer with my niece and great niece - the baby had a blast in the 50's she even played with an old phone booth. Then outside we took her picture on top on a rock sign. It was a wonderful day.

There is a small entry fee but it's worthwhile. You walk through a timeline of Route 66 history, matched with music of each era. It was fun bopping along to the Glen Miller Band & Will Rogers whilst reading and seeing historic photos and colourful displays. A tip on getting there ... Don't follow the left hand turn on the Main Street as the brown & white 'historic route 66' sign says. Look for the small brown & blue museum signs the keep you going straight ahead, over a bridge where you will see a huge black & white Route 66 on the right hand side of the road, that is the museum :)

We stopped in during our Route 66 road trip. This is a must see if you are riding Route 66. Tons of info, displays, and great staff.

Enjoyed taking a trip down Rt. 66 with all the exhibits of places along the Highway. I'll admit that now I don't see the fascination with traveling Old 66, as it is rough and narrow, and just part of our life here in Clinton, Oklahoma, but the history of it is quite fascinating.

This museum, which is operated by the Oklahoma Historical Society, is one of three Route 66 museums in Oklahoma (see separate Tripadvisor Reviews for National Route 66 Museum in Elk City and Route 66 Interpretive Center in Chandler) and is my favorite not just in Oklahoma but of all the museums in the eight states Route 66 passes through.Admission is reasonable-$5.00 per person with discounts for seniors, students, and groups of 10 or more and children under 6 are free. Check hours of operation as they vary throughout the year. The museum has a different room for each 10 year period as the story of the rise and fall of Route 66 unfolds. Each room is unique in its portrayal of the period. Not only do you learn about the "Mother Road", but you hear the music of the time by pressing a button, see news headlines for that decade, as well as prices for commonly purchased items, and other things of interest like cars of the period, etc. There is lots of visual stimulus which children would enjoy. Interactive exhibits add to the fun. In one you were living in Oklahoma but because of the Dust Bowl were leaving (as over 60,000 "Okies" did) and had to raise the necessary funds ($23.50) to take your family to California. Decisions as to what to take along and calamities you encountered determined if you were successful.Bar code scanners for smart phones were in each area for additional information. I scanned for info in each area and spent about two hours which is longer than the average visit. The gift shop is also excellent and worth a look. Knowledgeable volunteers add to your enjoymentOutside is an actual diner manufactured by Valentine Manufacturing Company in Kansas which sold for $5000 and was in operation in Shamrock, Texas before it closed in 1964. It has been restored and you can see how small it was-barely more than standing room with no tables and only a counter with a few stools. A few picnic tables are provided for visitors near the diner. This museum had a number of exhibits such as an entire wall of postcards which you don't see at other museums. The variety of the exhibits held your interest and you did not know what the next 10 year period would feature. Well done!

Not the biggest museum by any stretch of the imagination but what is in there is all very interesting and educational. The video they show is documents the demise of Route 66 and is a much watch for people interested in the historic route. Staff were really helpful and friendly and there was a lovely gift shop at the end.

This is the perfect stop for nostalgia fans. It is not large but has enough items to make sure you come out smiling and with knowledge of Rt. 66

It doesn't take long to walk through the museum but its fun with some great memorabilia. Cleverly set out in decades so that you can see the rise, fall and subsequent resurgence of route 66. The lady at the desk offered great suggestions about places to eat nearby as well.

This museum reveals a pretty good history about route 66, since this part of the state is where route 66 went through, back in it's heyday. It is a small museum, but very nice.

It's ok I would have liked it if it was bigger. More things to see but its worth the admission. Not bad mouthing it. If you like those things then you will like this place.

We started our Rt. 66 road trip in Chicago westbound and tried to stop at every museum along the way. This was by far the best of the museum’s we visited. The exhibits are well done and give the visitor a walk back in history. One particular exhibit was the back end of a ’59 (?) Rambler station wagon that was an exact match of the no air-conditioned car where my wife and her three siblings rode in the back as they endured long road trips out West with their parents. A must place to visit for any Rt. 66 road warriors.

This was our second Route 66 museum and it didn't disappoint. They have great displays of the history of the Mother Road that really take you back in time. It doesn't take too long to go through, and there is a great gift shop, too. This is worth the stop, but we felt the Route 66 Interpretive Center in Chandler was better, if you only have time for one of them.

Exhibit both outside and inside. Outside a small park and some photo possibilities. Inside, a gift shop, restrooms and a walk-in museum, approx 150 m long with exhibits and show cases. Newspapers, a model of a diner, cars, a film studio.

This place is definitely worth the stop! It's small but they have a lot and the staff are wonderful! Lots to keep you entertained and the perfect spot for a rest on your travels!
