I great walk through museum that I think the entire family will enjoy! The various exhibits show how we lived during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. There is a very good little restaurant/snack bar close to the entrance that serves soups, hamburgers, etc. I have been there many times since moving to Grove 20 years ago and see something different each time I go.
Wonderful outdoors museum for adults and children alike. Many, many displays from dolls to furniture, cuff link collection, button collection, pottery, military memorabilia, etc.
I last visited Har-Ber Village about 30 years ago. At that time, we boated in and it was free, funded by Mr. and Mrs. Jones of Jones Truck Lines. Now it's a little pricey at $10, but only $7.50 if you are a AAA member. At either price, it's well worth an afternoon. There are around a hundred buildings in the self-guided tour. They are beginning to decorate for Christmas, and it looks like it's going to be really nice. There is a good deal of walking, and there are some hills involved. Watch for some great views of a big part of the lake.
Har-Ber Village is a very interesting and very informative place to visit. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and call before going to make sure that the little snack shop is open, if not eat at DRAKES before you go.
We took the grandkids to this attraction not knowing how they would like it - turns out the absolutely loved it! Unlike a normal museum, this one gives the kids a chance to run and romp a bit as they go through the displays. The village is divided up into individual cabins or buildings that each house a specific historical item; some are interactive, others just to look at, but the combination keeps it interesting to the little guys for quite a while. In total, there are 102 points on the "trail" and kids can see the sort of things their grandparents had when they were the same age - good for kids to know what the past was! Great for a family and easily accessible for anyone with paved walkways, ramps, etc. We will visit again!
We were using some leftover timeshare points and ended up at Grand Lake, OK. Saw a flyer for Har-Ber Village and thought, "why not." What a surprise! This is one of the biggest collections of antiques and collectibles we had ever seen. All contained in over 100 small buildings. They have marked the sidewalks with arrows so you can make sure nothing is missed. It's not just one or two subject areas, but dozen of different subjects from dolls to farm machinery. Also, the story of the Jones is really special. Don't miss if you have any interest in antiques/collectibles.
We enjoyed a weekday visit to Har-Ber Village, even more than expected! The weather was not at all cooperative on our October visit, but we enjoyed ourselves all the same. So much to look at & such beautiful scenery to take in! We were surprised upon realizing we'd spent 4 hours on the grounds viewing the village. We enjoyed every moment & intend to return.
My husband and I were in Grove and visited this unique historical village. It's interesting if you like history. It is set up like a real village with cabin type buildings filled with artifacts from years gone by. Plan to spend a few hours because there is quite a bit of walking and lots of buildings. They also have a restaurant on-site. Grand Lake is alongside Har-Ber village so its a beautiful setting. Don't miss it if you're in the area!
The "Ole Time Christmas" is wonderful. All the decorations are beautiful. All year around one of the best places to visit on Grand Lake!
One trip to Har-Ber Village won't be enough to take in everything that is there to see. Go when you're not already too tired to walk, because there are several buildings on site with so many antiques to see and enjoy. They have done a lovely job combining colors and varieties of antiques for your viewing pleasure. It's sure to bring back many memories.
So many things here that will bring your thoughts to times gone by. This is a very extensive collection of the common and uncommon artifacts of yesterday years. Great place for grandparents as well as the kiddos.
A village of little buildings (jail, house, dr office, dentist, store, post office, ect), each housing related antiques purchased by the owners or on loan. Great place for fieldtrips and day outings. On the shores of Grand Lake. I have been here several times over my lifetime and will go back again. No rides here just walking tour. Very interesting.
We chose this place for our 8th anniversary. There are 101 different displays of everything from pre -civil war furniture to transportation. For me it made all the novels I have read come alive. Its well worth $10 for adults. The location by Grand Lake made the views breathtaking. I told my Mom about it and she lives in TX and cant wait to see it for herself. If your a history buff or even science you will enjoy this museum. For something to see for everyone of all ages.
We have been to HarBer Village before but this time we took our daughter and two granddaughters visiting from So. California. The last time our daughter had been to HarBer Village was about 25 years ago. Our eight year old granddaughter truly enjoyed herself with so much to see and explore. Our ten month old granddaughter truly enjoyed her stroller and the things that she got to see. It is very much like Knotts Berry Farm without the rides. There was a lot to see (mostly thru glass) of the way it was in the pioneer days. They had rooms that allowed children to enter and explore hands on. They had a gift shop as you enter the village and there is a cafe within the village, otherwise there isn't a lot of places inside to spend money. The views of Grand Lake are beautiful and there are many places that are memorable photo opportunities. Some of the walking can get steep, but there are places to stop and sit along the way. The day took us about four hours but we could have spent more time if they stayed open later. We totally had a terrific day and enjoyed it all and have many photos to remind us our day with our granddaughters at HarBer Village.
We visited friends who live in Grove, OK. They took us to Har-Ber Village and we really enjoyed the tour. Probably took us 2+ hours. I'd recommend going when the weather isn't in the 90's because you're outside almost the whole tour. Also, it is steep in some areas and I don't think I'd want to tour this if in a wheelchair or if you have trouble walking, however, parts of the venue are flat enough you could enjoy at least half of the sites. Sits on the edge of Grand Lake and has beautiful view. Only restroom is at the main tourist building so take something to drink and visit the restroom before you start your tour.
