This is a small local history museum. They don't have a lot of space to tell Stillwater's history but they do a lot with the resources they have. We hadn't been in a couple of years and they have recently redone all of the exhibits. As OSU alumni, we love seeing the old photographs and learning about this college town from the past 100+ years. Not sure why the previous reviewer(s) said the exhibits are rarely changed? Also, they have also added several "Please Touch" stations for kids to engage with. My 9 year old particularly liked the Native American station with the bison hide and the drums and arrowheads. All of our kids really enjoyed grinding the wheat at the Farm & Field station. And the puzzles at one of the other stations were particularly entertaining. We were told to come back next month when there will be another new exhibit. Apparently they present new exhibits several times a year along with several programs throughout the year. Admission is free! The employees were very pleasant and helpful in answering out questions. Glad we stopped.
There is not a lot of things to see and exhibits are not changed out often. Children are bored here. It really could use much improvement.
I like this small museum about the history of Stillwater for a quick jaunt through. The button displays are one of my favorites. It is not super kid-friendly, although they will browse for 30 minutes or so.
