We came to southern Oregon to check out the wines down here in the days just before Thanksgiving. We knew the country was beautiful but had no idea about any of the wines they made here. We were advised to visit this winery so it was our first stop. A very pleasant surprise indeed. We were especially fond of their Syrah, a smooth, polished example of what this AVA and a good wine maker are capable of. Their Pinot was a lighter, more French style than you find in the Willamette Valley and very much to our liking. The biggest surprise though was Brandborg's Pinot nouveau. This is made from their Estate Pinot Noir in the Beaujolais Nouveau style and is made to be consumed young .... so we bought the 2014 vintage for the holidays. They sell it at the winery in 'growlers'.There is not enough room here to critique every wine in the inventory. Suffice it to say if you are a serious wine lover you need to give this place a try. Sue and Terry are lovely people and would love to tell you about their little town and the fantastic winery. Two thumbs up!
This is a winery in the wilds of Oregon, in a small no-traffic-light village. Very friendly service and very family-oriented and kid friendly, that's great, I like that. Nice clean and modern tasting room, not Napa fancy. Just good honest family winery stuff. Good clean wines. Swing by and have a nice taste and chat...
We first met the couple who own and run Brandborg at the Portland bite 9 years ago when they were pioneering red wines in Elkton. If you've never heard of Elkton your not alone, it's a very very small town . The tasting room is very nice the help friendly and the wine very good , if you get a chance drive to Elton through the i5 turnoff at Sumerlin the drive up the Umpqua river is truly Gods country .Thanks Mike
We met up with some family here to shorten their drive to the coast. They have a lovely tasting room, very informative staff, and very nice wines as well. Also outside seating for a sunny day picnic. We will definately return for another visit. They have music on Friday evenings in summer.
Pinot for pinot lovers. Riesling that sets the standard. Grown at the extreme edge of pinot climate, or maybe just a bit further. This is wine that comes from the limestone, intricate glacial soils, and the moment at which the sun and the fog meet. They take their pinot noir seriously here, and pay very close attention to what is happening on the vine. They have to. The land is beautiful and unforgiving. I take what they do seriously, too. Skip the wineries with RV turnarounds down valley. Go straight here. Take in River's Edge down the block. Stay the night. You won't find better.
We have partaken of the bounty of Brandborgs since shortly after they established their premises in Elkton. They have several great pinot noirs, with Love Puppet, Ferris Wheel, and the Northern Benchlands being my favorites. My wife is partial to their Reisling. They have live music in their tasting room, and have dinners and special events several times a year--I am always hopeful that these events correspond to my work schedule. Terry and Sue are perfect hosts!
The facility is very nice, the wine good but over priced. They have a lot of events which are nice for the community.
Elkton is a charming town on the banks of the Umpqua river.Brandborg Winery is a great place to stop and sip wines and enjoythe owners and others that gather there. Dont miss it.
A friendly winery staff person will serve you a round of delicious wines. I love their Riesling. On Friday, there are usually lots of locals having a special glass of wine. My favorite place to stop and sample 8 or 10 varietals. The Pinots are very good. Fun and very inexpensive way to be entertained, enlightened on wine and enjoy it too.
Good wines and generous pours and usually great food to go with it.
We visited here recently and were pleasantly surprised. The visitors centre and shop are bright and airy. The whole building looked fresh and new. The wines we tasted were glorious and it was difficult to choose which to buy as we were limited because of weight restrictions on the aeroplane. We were the only visitors at the time which was just as well as there was only one member of staff. Well worth a visit.
