Boyd and Cassandra are excellent hosts and Boyd makes some fine wines. Cassandra presents a great little food and snack assortment so the tasting is very casual. Put this on on your list.
We stopped by Natalie's Estate Winery for a return visit and were delighted once again. Cellar Door Wine Tours called in advance and made a tasting appointment for us. Boyd, the winemaker was not there on our tasting day however, his lovely wife Cassandra made us feel right at home. It is difficult to explain in a review the peacefulness and feeling you get from Boyd and Cassandra when visiting Natalie's. And the wine you ask? Handcrafted excellence. It really is like sitting down in the comfort of your own home and tasting some of the best wine in Oregon. On this trip, we were informed that Boyd would be on his way back from harvesting Natalie's 2013 Temranillo and if we were interested we could help!!! What a suprise, the following day, we helped process Natalie's 2013 Tempranillo...it was a blast. A little warm and humid but a blast.Natalie's is on the top of our "Not to Miss" list.
Natalies Estate was a part of our wine tour and was one of our favorite wines of the day. It's a small, off the beaten path winery that you must make an appointment to visit. But it is definitely worth it. The owners are extremely friendly and their wine is incredible. Don't miss it!
We discovered this winery last year and plan to return every year when we get back to the area. The wines were awesome and the tasting area is unique. Another winery not to miss.
Host was interesting and fun to talk with! Knowledge of the area weather patterns affect on wine set the tone for our wine tour - very interesting place to start!
Everyone in this area makes great pinot's but not much else. Natalies Estate also makes some big reds from fruit obtained at some of the best vineyards in the warmer climates around us. You have to make an appointment to visit, but that makes it all the better because you get the undivided attention of the owner. His wines are amazing too. It's one of the best stops in the area.
With the plethora of wineries in the Chehalem/Newberg area, a visit to Natalie's will absolutely suprise you. Natalie's is small, understated, unpretentious, off the beaten path, and by appointment only winery that you would be lucky to stumble upon. It is one of those places that when you find it...... you return with your closest friends and family!! Our first visit to Natalie's was a result of a recommendation from a "local" that told us "you have to visit Natalie's....let me call them for you." Boyd and Cassandra Teegarden are gracious hosts that love to share their artistry and craft. Boyd is the winemaker and it is obvious he knows his stuff. He is approachable and loves to teach you about his wine....and if you are lucky you might get the chance to work!!! A small production winery with BIG.. BOLD.. fruit forward wines in Pinot-land. Our visit to Natalie's has been the highlight of our trip to the Newberg area.
