We shared a 70' houseboat (awesome floating condo) with our friends over Labor Day Weekend. Our group shared the rental expense which made the cost quite reasonable for the houseboat. Our houseboat had a fully equipped kitchen, large living/dining room, 2 bathrooms, and 4 bedrooms (I think these are called staterooms on a houseboat). The boat was very clean and tidy.Upstairs there was a large deck with a jacuzzi that was perfect for chillin out after the kids were asleep. The boat rentals office was hectic since it was Labor Day Weekend but, the staff was friendly and efficient. We had to go to the Marina Store to get fishing licenses and it took a really long time since there is only one computer available to access the fishing license website. The girl in the stored tried to help us and explained that the computer and licensing website belong to fish and game. She told us we could have obtained our licenses by going to the licensing website from home. We wished we had known that we could have done this before we got to the marina. After we took care of the fishing license we bought a few things that we forgot and then went out in our houseboat. We had a great time playing in the water, fishing, barbecuing, and just hanging out. The kids thought the water slide was "the best thing ever".

The Negatives: Our pontoon boat was worn with dingy seats and torn carpeting -- not at all like the picture we saw while making our reservation. When we refilled the gas tank at the end of the day, we were charged a $12 oil fee of which we were not informed ahead of time. The map was not great and I would not recommend renting a boat on Lake Mead without an experienced captain. Luckily, we were experienced boaters and could read the shoreline well enough. The Positives: Management was organized with the paperwork and we had a fairly thorough briefing about driving the boat. The scenery is spectacular! We saw Hoover Dam, swam for a couple of hours at a sandy beach and explored some of the coves on the Lake.

We rented a 70' houseboat for 5 days. Everything about the boat was dingy and worn. When we first got on the boat we were overcome by the stench of sewer. The smell dissipated after we left the marina (or maybe we just got used to the smell). The oven didn't work. The pull out couches were probably 20 years old - useless. The water in the jacuzzi was full of hair. Some of the gauges didn't work. Apparently as we pulled into our beach spot the steering gave way - so we had to pull the house boat into a beach. Seemed reasonable because the boat felt like it was being held together with scotch tape. Not sure that it was the steering, we tried to leave early and spend the last night at the marina because of a pending storm. When we told the marina our plan, they were not happy with us. They told us they couldn't guarantee us a spot back at the marina. We decided to go for it, but couldn't get the boat out of the cove. We radioed the marina for help. They came out within an hour and tried to fix it. They had to take us back to the marina... And they did find us a place at the marina. In the end - they did credit us for the last night.

I rented a houseboat from Forever Resorts at Calville Bay on Lake Mead. The houseboat was not cheap, $1500 a day. Upon arrival, they take you out of the marina with one of their drivers. The driver noticed our fuel pump was not working and told us to beach the boat on the other side of the breakwater and they would be out first thing in the morning to install another fuel pump as our backup generator wasn't working. They never came that day and we stayed beached next to the marina. Finally on our second night, we decided to take small cruise since we were paying for a boat but we were afraid to go to far as there was no backup generator and the one generator that was working kept shutting off. So far the $5000 it cost me for the weekend, we never were able to take the boat out onto the lake. There were no apologies, not even a return phone call from them. I would never rent from Forever Resorts again!!

On our trip around Lake Mead, we stopped off at Callville Bay Resort & Marina. Had a great meal in the restaurant and enjoyed the fantastic views of the marina. Service and food is was what you would expect in the US, fantastic!
