Much of the olive oil you find in the more expensive shops in the bay area is processed right here in Corning. The difference is you will pay less for it here and have more variety to choose from.
We were in Redding and were planning to do some wine tasting, but didn't want to wait for the tasting rooms to open... And Noticed that there were a few olive oil tasting rooms in Corning and decided to stop at one. Lucero has the most 'corporate' looking signs and logo. They are located just down the road from the exit off I-5. There's a very nice tasting room, and in their mill, you can see the equipment used, and there are pictures showing you the olive oil making process. It was the first time for us, so it was very educational. The staff was very friendly, and welcoming. In their tasting room, there were several different olive oils. I never realized the different flavor sand how many different olives there are! They have blends, varietals, infused (garlic, basil, lime), Meyer lemon and mandarin orange olive oils (included with the oils during the pressing) available for tasting. There are also balsamic vinegars and other appetizers for purchase. This is marketed as a family run business, and it is no longer owned by the Lucero family. Prices are a bit high, but their variety is wide. I noticed that there are other companies in the area, and also saw a vendor from Corning at our local farmers' market in the Bay Area whose prices were lower.Overall, it is a good experience. We purchased a couple of bottle, and received a small one free from a yelp check-in.
Friendly employee's. Tours are great and the olive oil varieties are good and interesting. Olive oil on ice cream, sounds bizarre but they had a sample of it on their first opening tour. Have visited again here and there. Of course olive oil is expensive but, I recommend visitors who love olive oil go visit. :)
Forget imported olive oils and buy in the USA! These olive oils are amazing! And the Balsamics are even better. Try the strawberry balsamic on a salad or over a grilled chicken breast. So yummy! Then drizzle the Blackberry balsamic onto sliced pears. For dessert---drizzle the Orange Olive Oil over Vanilla ice cream. Tastes just like the 50-50 bars we loved as kids.
My wife and I were so impressed with this small operation that just quietly supplies olive oil to many large companies in the area. Because we were the only ones there at 10 AM in the morning, we had a private tour of the olive processing facility. It was so interesting to a Canuck who never sees this kind of thing. They allowed to go behind the roped off areas and look into the different machines that process the olives through all the various steps to produce olive oil. Everything was spotless and we had to wear hairnets etc., to see the various areas of the factory. Loved it! The gift shop was a bonus where we bought different oil, and their other product, flavored balsamic vinegars!
We had purchased some of the Meyer Lemon Olive Oil on a trip thru Corning last year. It is so delicious I was using it for everything, salad, pasta, fish, chicken. It is not flavored like many of the lemon olive oils but infused with real Meyer lemons and that makes a huge difference. I also bought some of their Mandarin olive oil to try...also very good.
It's getting very hard to find great products still made in the USA, but this is one and it's outstanding. They produce pure extra virgin olive oil and many types of olive oil blends & balsamic vinegars, most are available to sample. Recommend you take the tour before sampling. It's easy to see why they have won gold medals. One of our favorite olive oil selection was Anthony's blend and the blueberry balsamic vinegar. I take a teaspoon of the oil before working out in the gym and have seen better results than the over the counter joint preparations. They also have some great olive products. Be sure to inquire about the membership club, you receive a selection they choose quarterly, and a discount on your purchase. We received our first shipment and it was fantastic. Plenty of parking available in their private lot. . Afterwards, if you are looking for a great place for lunch, head over to the Olive Pit's deli.
We are so glad we stopped here. We took a tour and the guide was so knowledgeable. Then the tasting room....you have to experience it. They have some of the best infused oils and vinegar. Wish we lived closer but they gave us the catalog so we are sold on them now. Doesn't take long and is so well worth it to stop.
The olive oils and balsamic vinegars are delicious. The mill offers tours and free tastings. But the best thing is the special events. Throughout the year they offer events like Second Saturday at the Mill, Winter Crush, and more. We always see if we can visit those days and make a day trip out of it.
We went for a tasting and ended up attending their evening event. Music, dinner, wine tasting, a few local vendors and an interesting tour. Their olive oils and vinegars are delicious. They're passionate about what they do and it really shines through in their products.
My sister in law lives here and last year we visited and took a tour along with the olive oil & balsamic vinegar tasting tour. Unbelievable. This was amazing even my husband was impressed and I'm the chef of the family. Who would of thought that balsamic vinegar would taste good over ice cream. Oh my gosh it's amazing. There are so many flavors to choose from along with different varies of oils. My favorite is their garlic olive oil. This is a family run business and it shows the customer service is spot on. You can sample all of their product and I order year round. This trip I joined the club!!!!If you are in the area do not miss this gem it is a great point of interest, great shopping & tasty treats.
A little off the beaten path, but don't miss it! Big tasting room of their dozens of olive oils, vinegars, olives and tapenades. We were very surprised at how reasonably priced their items were, and how they will ship everything where ever you'd like for a flat rate (free, if you order over $100worth).Great for gift giving as well as taking some home for yourself!
This family has embodied the art of Family Farming and Marketing local and globally. Their products are a delight
We received an assortment box as a gift. We were in the area for a family affair and made a side trip to the store. We restocked our pantry, and were giving a tour of the facility. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. A nice way to start a shopping day, there is a winery in the area. Visit when you are in the area.
Returning from Calif. to Oregon we stopped to load up with some Lucero Olive Oil. Very upscale shop with lots of other goodies besides olive oil. Spreads, olives, different flavors of balsamic vinegars. They have it set up with vats of all the flavors of olive oil so you can taste the difference of each one. We chose the Arbequina the gold medal winner for special occasion, the Ascolano, the three blend for everyday use,the Meyers lemon for salads and the chocolate for ice crème and baking.
