Fantastic set up for a learning experience and great beer. This place is set up for weddings, parties and any other type of function. the grounds are gorgeous.
Been to breweries all around the world, and I'd say the restaurant here take this place to the next level. GREAT food although a little pricier than typical "brewery" food - however much tastier and fancier. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon - they told us it'd be 45min wait, and they had a table for us within about 15min (just 2 of us). Great selection of IPA's on tap as well as non-Stone beers. The brisket was AWESOME and so was their unique take on a BLT.Our table was by the bar, next to the window - so we saw people getting the brewery tour. it seemed like it'd be a SLEEPER of a tour- the guide had the group standing in the same spot for a solid 20 minutes. The people on the tour looked bored out of their minds after about 10 min. I'm glad we didn't op for the tour (I think it costs $3 with a tasting). They obviously put a lot of money into this place, which is why it's so surprising that it's not well marked outside. Literally no markings or signage at all indicating that it's Stone that we could see. If you're a beer nut like my wife & me, definitely stop here (and Green Flash too).
Decided to try this restaurant on a recent visit to Escondido because it was close and we like beer. No one could prepare me for the experience this brewery is to visit. I checked out the video about the sustainable garden before we went and was very, very impressed with the philosophy, how it was constructed, etc. It is amazing! So - an acre of remarkable gardens, a stream full of singing frogs, a glass wall that opens to the gardens, a beautiful restaurant (not really a bistro - that implies a much less elegant space), a store, a tasting room, and on and on. The beer was wonderful with wonderful names - Levitation, Sublimely self-righteous, etc.), the service impeccable (Thank you Jennifer), the food was fresh, beautifully presented and very tasty. Everyone we spoke with absolutely loved what they were doing and loved working there--and I can see why. We tried 3 different beers - each one with a unique flavor and all good! To be honest, I have never liked a dark beer but found I really liked Stone's beer! The menu is full of wonderful unique combinations (chicken and wild boar, for example or Peruvian spiced chicken and jalapeno crema...). Unfortunately, we could only try a couple of things - the Yakisoba, the Spicy Almond Encrusted Tilapia and the Bistro Salad - all excellent. We went during the week -- it is definitely a very popular place. I can only imagine what it would be like on a weekend - so if you can, try to go when you can take a relaxing stroll in those amazing gardens.
They started in a small warehouse in San Marcos. What a difference the years make. Now one of the larger brewers in San Diego County (if not THE biggest), this place wows with it's sheer size and ambience. Very cool place to hang out while enjoying beers. Though the food and service still could use some help, the reality is, this is a place to have good beer and create memories. If in the area, definitely stop by and check this place out.
A group of 14 of us stopped by without a reservation after a long bike ride. We were expecting a typical brewery with pub food but boy were we surprised. The grounds are fit for a wedding or a large party yet they are able to meet every guest feel welcomed. Our friendly waitress quickly set up a table for our group even though the place was packed. The beer selection is great as expected and the menu has a very unique and refreshing flavour to it. Highly recommend the chicken schnitzel as an entrée and quinoa salad to start.
We go here often for an after work timeout to chat & relax a Lil. I have also been here as a date night/afternoon and it was pretty fun. They have a tour available for the brewery and we got to sample a few beers then had dinner after... Delicious & a good time all the way around..
we liked it so much we went back twice for lunch, no dislikes! the amount of beer on tap is truly mind-boggling, and it's ALL good! and then there are bottled beers to be had, some of them quite rare.
If Stone ever made a bad beer, I don't know about it, and I've tried every Stone beer I can find. They're famous mostly for hoppy strong ales and IPAs. The brewery is in a hilly industrial area, and they've surrounded the outdoor restaurant with a lovely California garden--trees, sun-friendly plants, a little artificial stream. The food is good, but the beer is the main attraction.
We took the tour as a company outing with dinner in the restaurant afterward. The tour was long for what you got to see (about an hour). You basically listened to the tour guide talk about how great craft beer is compared to big commercial beer the entire time while showing you some stainless steel tanks. After the tour there was a tasting where you could try 4 pre-selected kinds. It would have been better if you could pick what you wanted as they had over 20 taps avalable. After the tasting we moved in to the restaurant which was very impressive visually. The food was OK, nothing to write home about. The big downer was the cow dung smell around the area. It was horrible. I'm not sure if it was the organic garden fertilizer, but it was very off putting.
My husband and I were told that this place was fabulous.First,be aware that there is no signs designating the property as Stone Brewery. It has a small menu and the food we had was average. The outdoor area is much too small to accommodate the amount of people who come.Of course there is the standard gift shop with tacky t shirts.I found nothing outstanding, here. It could have, just a easily have been a Budweiser or Miller brewery.
Stopped in to check out the store since we had already eaten to pick up a couple of t-shirts as well as take home a growler with us. The store is located within the Brewery and the restaurant so if you are looking for an absolutely beautiful evening in a great location this is your place. Stone is one of the better brewers out there and we were happy to stop by and get the growler and enjoy the contents later. The setting is beautiful!
The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the beer and food they serve. The food is great. I was quite surprised that a brewery would have gourmet cuisine. The grounds are also not what you would expect. It really must be seen and enjoyed first hand.
The facility is amazing! Very modern, clean and overall great experience. Outdoor garden seating area is a must see and experience. Tour of the brewery is a little anticlimactic but interesting nonetheless.
I love dogfish but the true intonation to beer will be held bye stone for a long time to come.Thank you so much stone for helping us find some of the best beer in the world.
If you have not been here, and you like good beer and food, this is a must visit when you in the area.Food can be pricey, but overall really nice beer and food.Get here early on weekends as it gets really crowded.
