Great place to see local history. Great displays and friendly staff. They have a seismograph which is set up and working, for those who are interested in our local earthquake activity..
Once inside, you will find a lot more of interest that you might expect. I was surprised with the number of NEW/OLD things that I was unfamiliar with. Easy and comfortable. $1 (more please). 1 hr minimum
Check before hand on open hours and make sure you stop in if you are interested at all about the local history. Lots of great information on the early days of Ferndale and the folks that lived there. When I used to think of the early days of the North Coast I always thought LUMBER. Here it was all about DAIRY. Very unique area to learn about. And don't miss the annex that is full all kinds of old tools and equipment.
We missed the inside, but still gained pictures of the beautiful gardens, the mural on the side of the building and art-work and old pictures in the window.
The Ferndale Museum is a great place to visit with family or friends. It has a number of vignettes showing life over a hundred years ago. There is an excellent exhibit of farm equiptment as well.
You need to go it's very different. Lots of old things. Not enough history and no one is there to give any information on the events that took place or the years. And there is a lot of history in this little village.
The Ferndale Museum is a great place to learn about the the history of this unique Victorian village. The museum is not large, but it is packed with interesting exhibits. Be sure to check out the annex to see the old blacksmith forge and old farming tools.
We were in Ferndale to research our 1880s family history. The nice man at the desk when we visited wanted to be helpful, but the real help we got was from a local historian. Ann Roberts is a walking encyclopedia on Ferndale and at least its nearby Humboldt County neighborhood.Ann has indexed a number of years of the Ferndale Enterprise (still published!), and that provided a wealth of information for us. If you contact the museum, they can tell you how and when you can meet with Ann.
We were so glad we stopped here - what a great museum! Well worth the cost of $1 admission. We could have spent more time, but the Redwoods were calling.
What a terrific museum. So much history in Ferndale. Lovely little gift shop. Will be spending more time there on my next visit.
The small museum is full of the history of Ferndale. Very interesting and can be a quick stop. Only a $1 per person to get in.
We were pleasantly surprised by this vast collection, very friendly and informative staff, would definitely recommend
A cute, very home-made museum, run by volunteers. Gives a history of the area, demonstrates some old household items, as well as tools from a blacksmith shop. At a bargain rate!
Great second time visit to this museum, they have really made it very informative and the displays were very good. I think it just be a must on your list if visiting Ferndale.
Loved the museum and the Kinetic Sculpture displays. It's small and could use a good cleaning, but is fun.
