We called about the 1/2 day horse ride. I asked if we needed a reservation for the day we wanted to take a ride. I was told none was needed and to just show up for the afternoon ride. We arrived 1/2 half early and were told there would be no 1/2 rides that day as no guides were available. Further, it was cash only and there is no mention of that on their website or when I called. The only thing they could offer was a one hour trail ride with another family, cash now!! We were extremely disappointed, but opted for the one hour ride because of driving from Mammoth Mountain to get there. In talking with our guide, he talked extensively about the 1/2 day trail ride and he leads it all the time. Further, there were guides all over the place. I came to the conclusion that because it was just my wife and I, they didn't want a guide to go out for 1/2 day with only two people. Buyer, be ware!!

We have enjoyed riding horses here, most recently summer 2013. The area around here is so scenic.In addition, you can rent pack teams to go with you with your camping supplies on their back (instead of yours) into the magestic mountain back country. The scenic beauty is amazing. For that, do make reservations in advancec.It is located by Silver Lake on June Lake Loop in the Eastern SIerras. It is open in the summer. We have been in Bridgeport one day when they were bringing the horses back to the area - i.e. they move them to another location during the winter.

Frontier is all about customer service! The food is amazing and the horses are gentle and for any level rider.
