If you order online watch out. If you order a 750 ML bottle you may get 3 - 200 ml bottles. When contacted you get a reply that "NO one else Has Complained" Well I did. I got a reply the they overfill the 200 ml bottles by 2 inches...so I measured 2 inches and poured the amount into a graduated cylinder...15mls. so an extra 45 ml..I was still missing 105mls. To fix this they're to ship me another 200 ml bottle. Next Problem: - the 200 ml bottles need to be opened with a corkscrew..meaning they are now open to the air. so I requested a 750 ml bottle be sent with my "extra" 200 ml; bottle.. I got a reply that they're no longer using 750 ml bottles so they do not have one to send. So I suggest they should remove the 750ml products from their web site..I get a reply that the only one they're out of is the one I ordered. so no bottle. If you have a 750 ml on the shelf empty it out and send it to me....awful customer service...and Theo will write that they're only a small family business guess that means I am suppose to pay for product I don't get and like it!!! Again they wrote "NO one else has complained" .Buyer Beware!!!
We visited Los Alamos, CA, a former stagecoach stop, with our two dogs for the day and were directed to this restaurant by a local art gallery owner. It is a combination picnic/haute cousine place with recycled "plates" made out of palm leaves, biodegradable cutlery, paper napkins, and top-notch local wines and delicious food. The menu is limited and changes daily but the food is all locally sourced and organic. There is a delightful patio that is dog friendly. It is well worth a stop. My husband had crab cakes which he declared to be the best he has ever eaten. I had the Paleo salad which was delicious. Portions were modest and prices are high, but it is a great dining experience and we will return.
Global Gardens recently moved from Los Olivos and have expanded to also have a wonderfully creative and delicious cafe! Do an olive oil tasting--it will blow your mind to taste the variety that they have to offer. Theo is passionate about her olives and food...and it shows!
For my wife and I it was one of those experiences that is almost beyond words. This unassuming shop was far from what we expected. But this is not your typical olive oil and vinegar tasting venue. Here you feel warmth and welcome. It's certainly not a cold and industrial feel you can get from other businesses. Here there smell of fresh bread greets you as you enter and actual glass bottles filled with olive oil and not metal kettles everywhere. Don't miss out!Your hostess Theo is awesome!
$5 for an amazing olive oil and balsamic sampling. Hostess was very nice. I was sorry to hear that shop is moving.
My wife and I visited this shop on a spring trip through Los Olivos. What an AMAZING 45 minute trip through awesome tastes. The tasting plate is above and beyond the worth. In fact, if you do the tasting plate and truly do not buy something, then message me and I'll buy you something from there. Our guide through the tasting was a local (forgot her name) and she was fantastic in handing out great places to stop, visit, see and taste while visiting the Central Coast.MUST DO if in Los Olivos!!
I get so excited every time my Global Gardens shipment comes! It's like Christmas every quarter. At first I thought this would be too much to receive 3 items on a quarterly basis, and although we have a small kitchen, they are now essential items! As a newly wed, this was the best membership, as it allows you to try new and creative ways to prepare delicious dishes... and impress the husband and the in-laws!
There is only so much wine tasting one can do! Charming Los Olivos is wonderful for a variety of people. Close to Solvang, the Chumash, and a variety of wineries if you are in the area... Global Gardens is a treat! I am not into olive oil or vinegar... but they make it easy to enjoy. The health benefits of olive oil and vinegar top off the experience. I have been told most of my life how good these are for your body, inside and out... but this is the first time I have ever enjoyed the flavors! You can spend $ on wine that will last a day or on olive oil that will last up to 3 months of enjoyment. On salads or in special gourmet dishes, you'll enjoy eating at home more often with this special treat.
We happened upon Global Gardens through an article in the LA Times while we were staying at the nearby Ballard Inn. We were intrigued by the story of the business' beginnings, and the article's recipes sounded sooo good, so we drove over that morning before hitting the wineries. So glad we did! Their flavored olive oils, vinegars, sauces, glazes, and snacks are unique - and taste just wonderful. We decided to join their club, and received our first shipment today....can't wait to try our new goodies!! The shop is adorable, everyone there is so friendly and welcoming, and they have a very cool line of ceramics, kitchen gadgets, body oils and lotions, books, and Fair Trade products from Africa. They offer discounts for club members with very fair shipping fees for online ordering.....great deal for those of us so far away in NY! Can't wait for their first published cookbook to be available in October! Be sure to check it out when you're in the Santa Barbara wine country....it's a must see stop on your trip....and very easy to find!!
This is a pleasant break from wine tasting. It is a small store with mostly gift shop type items. However, they have vinegar and olive oil tasting, with several olive oils and flavored balsamic vinegars. The olive oils, in particular, were interesting because of the very different flavors they had which, according to the staff, depended on the crops that were growing near them, like citrus and pepper trees. This does not take a lot of time, but is very interesting.
Stopped in Los Olivos for the farmer's market , and was absolutely delighted to find this treasure of flavor! Thank you.
My brothers and I stopped by while out sampling wine in the area. The knowledge and flavors Theo shared with us was very impressive. I joined the club to get the quarterly shipments and look forward to the new flavors coming my way. I recommend this as a must stop while in the area.
We stopped here as part of a wine tasting tour, and it ended up being my group's favorite stop! Theo led us through a tasting of several different olive oils, vinegars, and a couple other goodies, and answered all of our questions. The tasting was a nice complement to our wine tastings, and everything we tried was delicious.Being something of an olive oil and vinegar fiend, I thought the olive oil club membership sounded like a great deal and I signed up on the spot. I've gotten a couple of shipments so far, and have really enjoyed all the products. I consumed an entire liter of pear and tamarind vinegar in about two months--a pace that I didn't think possible, even for me--because it was so delicious I couldn't help myself. And I'm picky, so that's really saying something. I definitely recommend this place!
We read about this gem of a place on trip advisor and decided to stop in. What a treat!! Dawn was amazing, so knowledgeable--a crash course in everything you ever wanted to know about olive oils!! Definite must see!!
While wine tasting in Los Olivos our group dropped into Global Gardens. We indended for it to be a quick stop, but ended up staying more than an hour tasting their wonderfully unique olive oils (who knew?), browsing the culinary items, and talking to the owner. We purchased several food items to bring home and to picnic with over the next several days of our trip. The fruit vinegars are amazing (no more boring red wine vinegar in our house!) and my husband loves the spicy walnuts. We'll definitely visit again!
