This nonprofit neighborhood playhouse presents a nice variety of fun and well-acted plays at very reasonable prices: $18-$30. Maple and Vine was a humorous and thought provoking play about the contrasts of life in 2015 and in 1955. Previously, we saw The Fix on the Fairway, a humorous play about interactions between personalities at a private golf club. This playhouse is close enough to downtown Los Altos to easily enjoy dinner in a restaurant there before the show. Very minimal food and water are available at the theater for $2 an item.
So happy to have a professional theater company in our little town. Please support them-- they give back to the community in so many ways and support youth theater as well.
A group of my neighbors has had season tickets here for years. It's a great little theater with no bad seats and lots of free parking. Until this past season, the performances were fine but unremarkable and sometimes hokey. This past year, something must have changed, because the quality took a great leap. The whole season was much better than any past season. The set design was always (and still is) excellent. It's still just a little local theater, but I can finally recommend it to anyone! And the 2013-14 season lineup looks fantastic!Oh, and it has changed its name to the Los Altos Stage Company.
What a cool space! The outside totally belies the fully-functional black box theatre on the inside. They work really well with the space they have-- the bathrooms are clean and functional, but outside... like at a beach.Productions here are affordable, and well above the quality of your average community theatre. Their production of Avenue Q was especially phenomenal... Almost Broadway quality!! They choose shows that have wide appeal, and I can't wait to see some of the ones in their upcoming season!
Bus Barn Stage Company presents terrific shows in a small theatre just off San Antonio Road in Los Altos. Saw On Golden Pond there this week - fabulous show: acting, play, set design, director - the whole production was just excellent, the staff were delightful, and the theatre itself is a lovely place. Have also seen Wesla Whitfield, Mike Greensill and Dean Reilly perform their wonderous music there - and they are due there again in April. Also will look forward to the company's production of Avenue Q in May of 2013.
There isn't a bad seat in the house. Used by both the Bus Barn Theatre and the Los Altos Youth Theatre groups, they put on wonderfully intimate productions of popular shows
