The gardens provide a beautiful one mile walk to the coast. Views along the coast are magnificent. Make sure you take the Fern Canyon trail on your way back.
Great to waste a away a couple of hours seeing some beautiful vegetation which is well maintained and right on the coast by the cliffs.
Had a wonderful visit. It is a beautiful place. They had an electric cart for $8.00 non-member rental fee that made it possible for one of our party to enjoy the grounds all the way to the ocean. Even early March had plenty of flowering plants to make it a lovely place to visit. I am sure that later in the year would be even more gorgeous.
We visited this great place on a beautiful sunny day. Great way to take a nice stroll amongst the redwoods along the coast. The variety of Rhododendrons were incredible and in bloom. We walked to the coast and were able to see whale spouts off in the distance. Great combination of coastal views and botanical treasures. I love the redwoods, and if you look carefully in your search you can see the rarest redwood of them all the Dawn Redwood from China. Staff was helpful and we will definitely return in the future.
This is a beautiful place to be. I think my boyfriend and I spent a total of four hours just walking around and enjoying the beauty. There is not much to say about this place, rather you should go experience it for yourself. Tips for when you do; take a small backpack with snacks, water and a camera (you will want to photograph everything!). There are many spots in the park that have benches to just sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery, and this is where snacks come into play! (I am not sure if we were aloud to bring food in, but it is worth it to take some snacks if you can!) There is a delicious cafe (Rhody's Garden Cafe) right before you start your walk, it is a tid bit pricy but worth every dollar. Each piece of the garden is labeled so you know exactly what your looking at. It is easy to walk in circles so try to use the map so you get to see the whole thing. Take some sunglasses for when you get by the beach area. Don't forget to stop by the vegetable garden. It is so spectacular, and they donate the food! For what you get, this is worth the $14 per person. Don't pass this up if your coming through Fort Bragg!
We appreciate that you enjoyed your experience at the Gardens, but we must make clear that smoking of any kind is not allowed at the Gardens.
Our visit was fantastic! January was sunny and warm. Plants were flowering and the walk along the ocean was so peaceful. We stop at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens whenever we visit Fort Bragg.
Easy hiking, dog friendly. MCBG includes a wide range of cultivated and native plants. The Gardens includes ocean-frontage for those who want to take in views. Birds, mushrooms and a wide variety of cultivated plants with wide ranging bloom times make for a fun visit year-round.
Lovely walls of color and quiet fern gulches. Sculptures tucked among the plants. A few roses were still blooming in September and the house of begonias was in full glorious bloom. The plant shop sold most of what you saw in the garden. Wonderful experience. Great place for ideas for your home garden.
This facility is well designed, informative without being a science exhibition, big enough to allow privacy if desired under a tree or on a bench and fantastic views from the bluffs. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I totally enjoyed the 2 hours spent here, unrushed, and I will be back!!!
Wish there was more but this was a beautiful spot and it was great to support local horticultural efforts.
We had my 90 year old parents with us. They used the three wheelers and enjoyed the gardens along with us. The gardens are varied, of moderate size, and unfailingly beautiful. We could have spent the entire day there, enjoying the peaceful ocean view.
Wow! I have been here in the spring and winter, and it is a walk of beauty anytime of year! Bonus...lots of birds and deer.
I believe there are more than 30 acres of beautiful trails and gardens here. You can bring your dog with you, but I did not. I walked out to the ocean and saw many birds and even a whale. There are a variety of trails with some more difficult than others. They are all clearly marked and easy to follow. You must go here.
Beautiful gardens along the coastline . There is a store where you can purchase plants and botanical books
