I have lived in San Leandro all my life and the crown jewel of the city is the Marina. My favorite thing to do is to go to the last parking lot and take the one mile loop on the manmade island that stretches out into the bay. If you're feeling really ambitious you can do the parcourse exercises along the mile but if not, you can walk, jog, bike or skate around it. There are always lots of families walking and you can see the most beautiful sunset views over the bay. If you walk to you're right when you're facing out of the parking lot, you can go to the new dog park which features separate parks for small and large dogs. When the weather is really nice, you can take that same trail and bike 8 miles all the way to the San Mateo Bridge and back. The head winds will give you quite the workout on your way back. The park itself is a big place for birthday parties and celebrations with two kids play areas and multiple BBQ pits. People play soccer in the park all week long and there's also a golf course right across the street if you're so inclined. If you're looking for a place that's safe and clean to stay close to the Oakland Airport, the Marina Inn is only about a 10 minute ride away. They probably have shuttles to the airport. The Marina is definitely the thing to see if you're in San Leandro.
With the sun setting and planes flying over, it was a beautiful way to end my first day in the area. Of course it stunk like all marinas, but but that is easily forgotten once the sun start setting.
Lovely park. Right on the water, so it was a bit on the cool side in mid-October. There's a boat ramp so it was interesting watching the varying levels of expertise on display!
We had barbecue and family fun. The boat ramp is right there also. We took our boat and had a grand time. The wind picks up in the afternoon, we flew kites.
Great spot for picnics & party's. (Make a reservations for large picnic areas very popular in the summer) Kids love this place plenty of space to run around. Plenty of space for fun & games. Great scenery very open. There's always an ice cream truck in the parking lot near the restrooms. Not sure if it is provided but I always bring tissue & soap. There is a track to run or walk with pets. Golf course & tennis courts across the street. Great restaurants nearby. Safe family friendly environment. Just in case police are always nearby.
Beautiful setting and kept very clean. Boat launches near by and dog park nearby..yet not in your way of walking and enjoying the scenary.
We visit family in San Leandro every summer, and one place we always take the kids is to Marina Park. It is the perfect park to ride bikes on the trail, play on the playground, have a picnic, or just people watch all while enjoying the fresh breeze that comes in from the bay. They also have a dog park for the four legged members of the family! I much recommend this park if in the area.
This is a really pretty park that is frequented by picnickers, soccer players, walkers, bike riders, and dog walkers alike. The crowd is pretty diverse and friendly as well. And of course, the views are wonderful!
Love this park nearby my house. Please, please do not eliminate the sailboats!!! My dog loves the dog park and I love the view of the boats from Horatio's.
This is a lovely park by the SF Bay in San Leandro. It is wheelchair accessible, and we were able to travel in a circular path around the lawn section of the park. There are always families playing here, including flying kites, and they have a nice jungle gym section for the younger children. There are many barbeque and picnic areas with well marked dumping bins for the coals. On the bay side of the park, there is a great view of the water across to San Mateo County. You can watch planes approach both the Oakland and the San Francisco airports (clear days for SFO). We have even watched the Fleet Week Blue Angles show from here in the past. The park connects to a gravel path curved out to the water, that is harder to access with a wheelchair, and a paved walking/running/biking Bay train heading both South and North from this location.
I normally go during the week. There always a few ice cream trucks there. The park is nice and at time it gets a little windy but I love the sand and the volleyball nets.
Marina Park in San Leandro is 30 acre park with sports areas, picnic areas, par course, and a large grassy area. It is a nice place to walk along the San Francisco Bay and is nice to watch a sunset from here.
I was raveling in Oakland/San Leandro on business and was looking for a nice place to run. A fellow business traveler in my hotel suggested I try Marina Park. It was great! Right on the bay with 3-4 miles of trail if you run down by the golf course. They also have a small boat launch, dog run and picnic area.
Хороший ухоженный парк с дорожками для прогулок и спорта, бегунов и велосипедистов. Есть место для пикника, скамейки.
