Black Oak Casino is a fun place to go. Even better now that they have a non-smoking section. It's great entertainment before dinner at the Seven Sisters restaurant.
Ok first thing, it was a Friday night. Buses from the city come up. Main casino was so smokey I thought I would die. They do have a non-smoker area of casino. Not bad but very crowded limited selection of machines, slots are tight, and hard to find empty one. Very noisy. Downstairs bowling alley is nice.
Son went there to the restaurant with an old lady he knows for her birthday. She accidentally wet herself and the staff was so ugly that they threw her out of the restaurant before they were even finished with dinner and didn't allow them to stay. She is old...for crying out loud, give her a break! But they were stuffy and very rude. Will never go to that place. Food was mediocre as well so guess it was not a loss but if you have any physical problems don't go offend those people cause they sure are not sympathetic. She even called the next day and the management was super rude then as well!!
Been here several times always clean even in Friday nights slots always available when very busy. Parking garage is convenance and not extremely large close proximity to elevators.
Very clean attractive gaming establishment. Family activities downstairs - bowling, arcade, restaurant. Great assortment of gaming machines and tables, non smoking areas as well. Overall all the features of very nice casino.
My family, granddaughter, her mother, her husband two children and I had dinner at the sports bar then we bowled. Great family night out, food, drinks, etc.Am taking my son and daughter in law to Seven Sisters where we will have a mother excellent dinner......The casino is a great family outing
Love to enjoy the various dance bands that they have here on Friday and Saturday nights. The music is usually pretty good, there is no cover charge, and the atmosphere is always fun. And you can always find some good food at any of their dining choices.
Casinos on the top level. Bowling, restaurants, and a kid friendly arcade. The prizes are amazing and the games are really fun.
Nice Casino with a very large non-smoking section. Most games available with usual payouts. I actually like the bowling alley. New hotel looks nice and would be a good place to stay for a weekend to visit the Sonora sites and surrounding area. For golfers, there are three very nice golf courses nearby. I played Mountain Ranch. Not a hard course but even for this intrepid walker, I wished I had used a cart. Even the par 3's had hills! Jamestown is right down the road and also a good place to visit. It has a decent railroad museum with a working railroad.
To break up the trip from the Eastern Sierras back to the San Francisco Bay Area, we have sometimes stopped here for an hour or two to have something to eat and "try our luck". Its a large casino with a variety of slots and table games. There is also an entertainment hall with concerts, etc.
Black Oak Casino is located in the woodsy hills of Tuolumne, California, near the historic Mother Lode community of Sonora, about a 90-minute drive east of Stockton. It contains some 1,300 slot machines, including a high limit room, along with several poker games, blackjack, and baccarat. Amenities include an upscale dining room, a bar and grill, a coffee shop/buffet, and several fast food choices. There is also a gift shop, and on the floor below the gaming area, there is a 24-lane bowling alley and games arcade for the younger set. A hotel opened two years ago adjacent to the casino. Ample free parking is available in an outside lot plus a parking garage, and there is valet service if desired.Black Oak has an eclectic assortment of slots ranging from vintage machines dating back 20 or 25 years up the latest in electronic games. Compared to other casinos we have visited, there are relatively few poker machines and not as many progressives. The most common denominations are penny, nickel, and dollar machines, but there are also a surprisingly large number of 25-cent machines (a vanishing breed), and even a few 50-centers. We had fun trying all the different options. We especially appreciated the fact that if you join the player's club, you can download your accumulated points to the slot machines and use them for play. At most tribal casinos, the only way you can use your points is to redeem them for food or hotel services.Smoky air is a problem at all casinos. Black Oak claims to have the largest non-smoking gaming section in California. This may be true, but our observation was that this policy is not well enforced—we saw several people with cigarettes in the non-smoking area. Fortunately, the casino was not very crowded when we were there, so the ventilation system could handle the smoke reasonably well.
A group of 4-6 of us has been coming to the Black Oak Casino primarily for their Saturday night buffet...or for the less hungry something off the menu. Both have taken a turn for the worse!!!No More Turkey in the buffet! The fish is fried, so its beef...beef or crab legs. The prime rib can be OK but also can be overseasoned and for the non meat eater, unless you like shell fish, the only other option is deep fried stuff! They've also taken their chili rellenos off the buffet, replacing it with some icky "Mexican Lasagna." Their menu has lots of high calorie stuff, but again very thin on the fresh poultry or fish (like zero) and even their salad selections are narrow...all super high calorie! Looks like we'll have to find another place to spend our money. Certainly won't miss the long walk through the smoke filled main casino from their main parking lot, but did like to try and win dinner on the way in in their smoke free section.
This was a pleasant casino, well decorated and clean. We liked it better than the Jackson Rancheria. The valet parking was a bit of a wait however...staffing problems on a Friday night?
Sept 13 & 14 it's the Acorn Pow Wow - Great place to see awesome Native American Dancing, experience and enjoy the culture. Took my sister today to her first Pow Wow and did she ever have fun. In top of that she are her first Fry Bread Indian Taco. She was in bliss - if you'd like a fun time and experience try it out - it's always the second weekend of September - across the street from The Black Oak Casino. There are other Pow Wows throughout California and the USA - but this is my favorite. After went to the casino played about a half an hour- then headed back- Had FUN in both places
Kids got to swim, grandparents got to play the slots (and win!) Nice staff, large smoke free gambling area for those of us who gasp in smoking environments.
