There are a few trails to hike here and I love the views from some of the higher trails. There is a really cute creek that runs through part of the trail and on the lower end there is a pond with a bench that is nice for a picinic.

Over the Christmas holiday, we hiked in SRP on two different occasions. The park is convenient to my son's house. Both hikes were short but pleasant outings. We had a toddler and infant along, so our hikes were short (1-2) miles. The scenery is beautiful and the opportunity for the toddler to explore the outdoors was priceless. We learned about sticks, berries, animal tracks, and trees.I would like to return someday for a longer hike.

I have been hiking this meadow for over 20 years and have many fond memories there. It is an easy trail, that is easy all season long. My kids have stories of the winter hike on Christmas in a foot of snow. We've also ice skated and the river at the beaver damn when it freezes. A great spot for a hike, picnic or just to sit in nature. One of the locals best kept secrets.

Well worth visiting this park. We biked Paul Bunyan road to canyon trail and beyond - very scenic. Pretty rocky but still very enjoyable.

This new trail system snakes everywhere. And it starts nearly in town! The northside switchbacks up a mountainside for a good half hour of climbing -- easily over a dozen switchbacks with bermed turns. Super sunset lighting all the way up if you start at that time of day. At this time the system seems hugely under-used, but a new bike shop has (re)opened in town near the base of the trail (they also make moto-choppers). Heck, there's even more trail right next to the Ranch that isn't part of it, as far as I could tell. Some seems hiker-only but I'm not positive. The ancient Old West saloon called the Pioneer, a couple blocks further down the hill, now houses the Lassen Ale brewery and the food is really good (bullet holes still in the wall). On the south side of town a National Forest starts at about the city limits going southward forever with a huge network of dirt roads extending up and over Diamond Mountain into fireroads and two-tracks. Zipping westward from the heart of town is the Bizz Johnson rail-trail, a National Heritage trail -- I didn't know they had such things. It's mellow but very pretty since it follows the Susan River valley up to the old mill town of Westwood. I've heard there's more good singletrack up near the western end of the railtrail. Oh, and if you get too hot the Susan river in town has a mini-gorge next to a bridge where dozens of teens jump off the high rocks all day long into cold water. Susanville is an amazing resource for natural exploration. An hour further west gets you into maximum prime full-on mountain territory (or whitewater river country). ...All of this is FAR LESS tourism-impacted than locations a couple hours to the south.

Whether you have a horse or only a dog, you'll both love it here (please pick up after your dog). Bring a camera, binoculars, or a chair and a book, and plan to spend some time. You won't want to leave after you've settled in. Not the reclining type? Then hike, bike, ride, or run. Susanville Ranch Park has something for everyone -- even mountain lions -- so look behind you once in a while.

The trails are amazing and full of things to watch -- birds, animals, bugs too! Wild onions grow on the hillsides there, look for them!

This is some of the best single track anywhere in Northern California. From mild to wild the Ranch Park has it all. The trails are incredibly well laid out, great scenery and views, and very light usage make these trails awesome. Cool off after your ride with great beer and food at Lassen Ale Works!

Susanville Ranch Park features many trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. One of my favorites is the Old Paul Bunyan Road trail that takes you up 2+ miles, cross Paiute Creek over a new bridge and back down the Canyon Trail. Great views of the beautiful meadow, Pine forest, some varied terrain for great mountain biking in a fairly compact area right on the edge of town. Trail up the creek is nice but keep moving or get bit by mosquitos. Haven't had a chance to try the extensive new trail system to the North.
