We lost but its worth it. We missed the exit going to lake tahoe blvd and we ended up to beautiful eagle falls in emerald highway. Cars were everywhere and try to catch the beautiful view of the lake and the falls. Worth it to drive and you will enjoy every view from the road.
this was a short hike to the falls but when we went there was very little water which was disappointing.
Great little hike with varying degrees of difficulty if you choose to go off the trail. Lower falls has some nice trails or you can do the free climbing up the rock face.
Just walk down the stairs and enjoy the beautiful vista of raging waters to nowhere.Sit on a rock, take a few moment, close your eyes and be all ears.So peaceful and serene beauty.Like a wall paper.Take few snaps and don't forget to touch and feel that water!
The hike is easy to find and the trail is well marked. You reach the bridge and the falls within 15 minutes or so. You can then continue on for about 20-30 minutes to a lake that offers spectacular views along the way. There are other hikes that continue on to other lakes if you want to make it a more challenging day. The trail head is very close to Vikingsholm as well to do both in the same morning or afternoon. You pay a voluntary fee at the entrance.
Beautiful stunning scenery. Bit of a hike to get there but so worth it.Take some water with you for your hike back up again.
Great trail with stone steps and a wooden bridge. Great moderate hike with a great payoff at the end.
It's a pretty good climb..not too strenuous. Beautiful scenery and when you get to the Falls it is just beautiful.
The lake is what makes this hike outstanding. I am sure the Falls are going in Spring, but in Fall, not so much
Visited in September during a running drought. The falls are more of a light trickle, but still an enjoyable area. The hike up is short and moderate. It is mostly stone stairs. An area to the top shoots off to a "vista" with a few benches viewing Emerald Bay. Beautiful spot to watch the sun set.To get the Eagle lake, cross the bridge at the top over the Falls.
We knew that the falls are very quiet this time of the year, so our real hike was to Eagle Lake, above the falls, and it did not dissapoint. We had no trouble parking at the trailhead, around 9 am on a weekday, Upon returning, cars were parked everywhere, Great views, and I would rate the hike above the falls as moderate, not easy..
Hiked the trail all the way to Eagle lake, very steep climb, lots of steps, but worth it. And it's easy coming back!
Short hike to the falls and the view is probable the best in Lake Tahoe. Bring a lunch and set on the beach, pure serenity !!
This can be pretty crowded later in the day, but if you want to see a beautiful sunrise over lake Tahoe, come here early and there is no trouble parking. There were only a few other people around and it was stunning to slowly watch the light spread over the landscape. You won't regret getting up early.
We do not hike! But this was an awesome experience. We took our time going up, we're not used to the altitude and its at least at 6500 ft. But Eagle Lake was amazing, so were the falls, though not as strong at the first of August. Next time, we'll take our suits and a picnic and enjoy the afternoon by the lake.We also got there early (by 9am on a Sunday) and got to park in the park's parking lot but it costs $5. It was an awesome hike!
