Have been here before - this time went later in the day. I felt the staff wanted to get out of there which was so different than my last visit. Setting is beautiful on terrace. There was a family with 6 kids that were running around out of control - I had wished the staff said something since it was ruining the experience for others. Champagne is always good.
The service was excellent maybe because we were industry. The grounds were beautiful even though it is right off the highway like most other wineries. The tasting are a bit pricey ranging from $30-$40. If you enjoy sparkling then this is the place for you. The overall experience was just average.
On the one hand, the tastings are expensive and the place is thronged with people. Sitting inside seems awful. On the other, if you can get a quiet table on the perimeter of the terrace, it's lovely. The tastings were incredibly generous; we essentially got a full glass of each wine, plus two more glasses when we expressed interest in something not on the list. We had caviar and smoked salmon, also expensive but also good. If you're looking for a gem of a winery or a great value, this is *not* it. If you want to sip six glasses of bubbly while savoring caviar on a Napa terrace...it is.
A lovely view interrupted by the highway . Friendly staff, beautiful building and grounds, I probably wouldn't recommend a stop but I am glad I did.
We had time for only 1 winery tour while in the San Francisco area. Neither of us are wine connoisseurs but I prefer red while my friend prefers white so we thought that, though sparkling is not normally a go-to wine for either of us, this would be good middle ground. Many of the ones we looked at required reservations or opened later than what worked for our timeline so we opted for this estate and are so glad we did! The weather seemed questionable all the way from SF to the sign for Napa, where it seemed we'd entered God's country since the fog seemed to burn off immediately and the sun burst through. Al, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable. My friend had never done a wine tasting before and we both loved the experience and the wines. The cheese, dried fruit and fruit-and-nut melba toast paired beautifully with the flavours of the wines, and since I love experiences and take-home products I can only get from the place I'm visiting, I bought some 'no-code label' wines for the road. The process involved and history of the winery were interesting. If I lived in the area I'd be here every opportunity I had. If the stairs at the front of the gorgeous estate are too much for you to climb, don't go into the first driveway. The next driveway up is flush with the entry for easy parking and access. We got here at about 10:30AM on a Sunday and there weren't a tonne of people when we arrived, though more had come by the time our tour was done. Lots of traffic on the road below but the view was so beautiful we weren't bothered by it. If you want a less busy backdrop you should probably go to a more remote winery. Excellent service all around!
My husband and I went on an engagement trip to Napa and this was one of the wineries we went to. It is beautiful , its like you were at a french chateau. The hostess were very attentive and we sat outside and had a cheese plate with our wine tasting. The grounds are Beautiful. Very relaxing.
The spot was okay. We visited other wineries, this one wasn't very high up on the list. Their sparkling roses were okay, the location was nice. We sat on their deck and had a beautiful view. Building is beautiful, service was good.
This is not the first time we visited Domaine Carneros but will definitely be the last time! It all started with my purse being snagged from the chair it was hanging on right next to where i was sitting. Little could i imagine in my wildest dreams that it could happen to me and not in a third world country but at such a reputable winery in the middle of Napa valley. Luckily we realized pretty quickly what had happened when we saw a couple that sat next to us at the tasting quickly going away towards the parking lot. Our friend, my husband and I chased them down to the car and they dropped the purse while driving away. We took a snapshot of the license plate, called the police but i am not sure they will pursue this any further since it was a rented car. Not a pleasant experience to say the least! However, the most disappointing part of this whole ordeal was how the winery administration reacted to this incident - they did not offer any assistance, did not call the police, did not inquire how they could make us feel a bit better since we were clearly all shaken to the core. NOTHING! In the end it all happened on their premises and they are fully responsible for everything that happens there. At least how i think they should have handled it. They even had the nerve to bring us the bill for wine tasting that was ruined and collect the payment!!!We were so shocked that we paid the bill and left. We are not coming back for sure and not buying the wine even though we were big fans.
My daughter wanted to stop here since it's a really lovely setting and the building resembles something from France. Not much to do. If you want to taste wine, you will be seated at their indoor room. There is really no visitor center or much of a gift shop. We just bought a gourmet chocolate bar, used the restroom, then spent our time outdoors sitting on one of their terraces. Not super impressed. No one was very friendly there either. Maybe they didn't think I had money to spend....big mistake!
We made the mistake of going to Mumm's first so we were a little disappointed with Caneros. First make sure you're prepared to climb 4 or 5 flights to the front door, especially after tasting wine all day! They were packed and didn't see at all eager to take care of us. We got haughty looks from both people we stopped to ask about the tour. One just pointed at the board like we were slow. $50 per head to let them convince us to buy their wine was more than I was prepared to part with. We do like their wine and did purchase a few bottles and the girls at the counter were very polite and helpful, but I wouldn't waste my time here. I'd do Mumm's for the tour, You'll definitely enjoy it more.
Gorgeous building, lovely view of the vineyard, amazing wine and customer service. The staff member waiting on me, served me a splash of sparkling upon arrival while I decided which of their tastings to do. this was an amazing welcome to their winery and to my first ever Napa vineyard. However, this winery is very close to the beaten path. Only barely set back from the road, the peacefulness of wine country is lost in the constant sound of traffic. They also have a black bird problem resulting in very loud squawking and birds swooping down stealing food off the tables.
This place really has great view, a lot of tables for taste their wine and the price not so bad. Actually we had great time but when we get table and want order drink they forgot that they had customer waiting for so long and my dad came to the desk and ask somebody for help and finally a woman came and help us. She's really nice and really helpful. This place one of great winery everybody should come and enjoy their wine and scenery. Highly recommended place for visit.
Domaine Carneros is usually my first stop before checking into the Harvest Inn. You can get a nice plate of cheese, dried fruits, nuts and crackers for $19. Lots of tables overlooking the Carneros vineyards. There are several options for four flights of Pinot Noir wine and/or Sparkling wine for $30 to enjoy sampling with your cheese platter. I thought the 2012 Avant Garde Pinot Noir for $28 was good. The 2012 La Terre Promise Pinot Noir was very good, but a little pricey at $58.
To kick off the 50th Birthday extravaganza of a dear friend, we made a stop at this incredibly beautiful estate. The enormous chateau takes you straight to northeast France in a heartbeat, and it's hard to pull yourself back into reality as you look out over the lush vine covered hills from the expansive terraces. The sparkling cheese plate was delicious as was the flight of sparkling wines we tasted. The Brut Rose was my favorite of the flight, but I was able to taste the Estate Pinot Noir and loved that too! I left with a bottle of 2009 Brut Rose and a few of the Estate Pinots, but will remember this stunning place long after those bottles are emptied and tossed away.
What better way to start a my partner's birthday than with champagne served in an idyllic setting. The Ultra Brut was first class but surprisingly so were the red wines. The tasting was sit down waiter service and that made a pleasant change from standing at a bar.
