THE place to gas up your boat or car before putting in to Kerr Lake, Buchanan's Store is also a really fun place to stop. We spent a week nearby at a rental cabin, and somehow managed to visit almost daily for little needs, including ice cream, kerosene, wine, toiletries, bait, fishing tackle, produce--they carry so much in such a little place, it's entertaining just to walk in the door. Make sure you talk to the friendly staff. The wooden screen doors are from the original 1930's facade.
