Located on the edge of Pomeroy, Washington, on the Garfield County Fairgrounds, this new museum is a real gem. As suggested on their website, I called David Ruark to arrange a personal tour of this all volunteer run facility. The pride of the community shines through in this wonderful grass roots effort. I experienced two buildings filled with early agricultural and pioneer antiques. Additional horse-drawn farming equipment was stored outside the buildings. One of my favorite pieces was an early horse-drawn mail delivery wagon. I enjoyed this tour so much that I made a nice donation to help with operating costs. I look forward to returning with my family in April to see demonstrations of early farming techniques done with horses and mules.
I love this place!Everyone is so friendly and eager to answer questions and share the stories behind the pieces at the museum. There are always new things too... so one visit isn't enough!I'm looking forward to my next trip!
This facility has 2 buildings full of antique farming equipment, from horse drawn to motorized items up to the mid 1950's.It is nicely displayed, clean and includes much educational info. There are also outside exhibits.Need top call for appointment to visit the inside exhibits. They have a special area of "what is it's" on display.Well worth your time.Have active horse farming in early April.
