Just as the name implies this is a historical museum. what the name doesn't tell you is that it is plumb full of history and interesting artifacts. If you are interested in learning about Roslyn, WA this is a great place to start. If you are interested in learning about coal mining this is a great place to start. If you're interested in history this is a great place too.
Great collection with emphasis on local mining history. Its in building next to Roslyn Cafe with the well known camel and oasis wall painting. Great selection of fun old stuff including the animated clock from Northern Exposure. Kid friendly. Imagine using the 1909 Vacuum cleaner.Very friendly docent went out of her way to answer a lot of questions I had on local railways and mines. Authentic and with heart. Go visit! There was a small contribution. Well worth it. Went from here up road to the cemeteries. That is also on Tripadvisor. The Roslyn cafe is not under Roslyn on TA. Go figure!
This was a small, old but very eclectic old museum that just can't be compared to modern museums. It took us 20 minutes to wander through the 2 aisles with 3 small children in tow, who were rather curious about some of the 19th and early 20th century every day items that were on display.
Well worth a visit to Roslyn for this and a quick lunch. The town itself is not much, but this little museum has a great and very friendly staff and tons of great pictures and artifacts from when this was a buzzing little mining town.
The museum is a fun spot to check out all the local history of the coal mining town of Roslyn. The volunteers are very friendly and have a lot of great stories. It includes some recent history from the filming of Northern Exposure.
A charming collection of historical memorabilia from the late 19th and early 20th century gathered so a visitor can find nostalgic and sometimes terrifying objects and incidents of the town's history.
This small museum has lots of history of the coal mining in this town. It is very interesting. If you enjoy history you will enjoy this museum and the town.
