douglas county museum

This was my second visit here, and like last time i spend two hours, and still feel I have only gotten though about 1/3 of the collection. There is an amazing amount of artifacts displayed here, and impeccably displayed. For a person interested ion Douglas County history this place is a treasure trove. In the basement, and easy to miss if you are in a hurry is a really great display of historic farming implements. Dozens of objects I had never even heard of before. There is a rock collection that also should not be missed. I have seen lots of rock collections,and this one ranks with the best. Great specimens, well labeled, and well lit and easy to view. We had a docent led tour and it was fantastic. I wish all museums were this rich with history and this friendly. Fee is by donation.

I really like the arrangement of the museum and how well cared for all the items are. You can tell people take pride in the museum and in the history of the area. Lots of things that are really interesting and the docents do a wonderful job of guiding you through the museum, lots of great stories and very knowledgeable about the items in the museum
