We have been coming to Fort Casey for quite a while. The sites are close to each other and most now have power and water hook up. The campground does offer some super views of the puget sound. The Port Townsend ferry docks real close to the campground. You can walk on to the ferry and hang out in Port Townsend for the day. Fort Casey state park is pretty big, offering up some great opportunities for exploring.
The fort is not what is amazing about this place, though it is enjoyable, it is the long beach walks you can enjoy along the inlet. Go grab some cheese and crackers, put them in a small back pack with your favorite beverage.. and hike it. Drift wood is all over .. enjoy. The lighthouse was a great visit too.. Make a day of it on your way back drive over Deception Pass.. I wonderful treasure tucked away that is not over run with crowds.
The Fort Casey is in good condition and affords beautiful views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. The beach walk between Fort Casey and Ebby's landing is beautiful and rugged. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful state parks
Open area, clean bathrooms and a wonderful view of the Sound. Going through the concrete bunkers and getting to touch the cannons was a thrill.
Nice park and plenty to see. There is a fee for parking, $10/day/car or $30/year/car. Very clean park and plenty of places to park.
We live on Whidbey Island, and this is one of our favorite places to go. Beautiful expansive views of Admiralty Inlet, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Olympic and Cascade mountains, etc. Lots of area and trails to walk on (including along the beach), the lighthouse, the gun battery, fishing, and lots of wildlife (seabirds, sea lions, harbor porpoises, etc.).It is a state park, so there is a fee for parking--best value is to buy the annual pass for $30 which is good at any WA state parks (otherwise a day pass is $10). No charge if you walk or bike into the park.
Drive around the deer and rabbits. You have found a wonderful light house near the ferry to Port Townsend. Well kept lighthouse. Well kept grounds. Some camping. The embatlements are still in place to be seen where the gun batteries were. Don't forget to pay for day pass or even better get yearly pass and visit more frequently.
Found this park accidentally, glad we stopped. The lighthouse was closed, only open on weekends. Deer munching on grass, must be used to people. Enjoyed reading about history on the big guns. Park bench available to rest and see natural beauty!
Lots of hiking around and places to run, amazing view of the coast, and don't miss the tunnels, kids will love them
I had no idea this was even here. This is a great state park. lots of open areas to explore. The gun batteries are fun to climb on and look around. Then there is the beach for a walk sunset walk. We will be back again soon.
Must camp here came for a night stayed a week great sunsets millions of stars lots to do and see. Also caught 2 silvers from shore we ate for dinner.
What's not to like? it's all there - shoreline, wheeling seagulls, old gun placements (with history), great camping on the beach, ocean fishing for those who want, ferry to Port Townsend. Old military housing now used for conference center (friends tell me it's a great place for that). And great open space for family activities. Well worth a visit.
I could not get over how great the view was from the Lighthouse. The docents were also the best I have seen in a long time. I hope more people come and visit the lighthouse and the Park.
Great park and some of the guns are still in place, unlike Fort Stevens and some of the other forts of this era.! A lighthouse is also on site.
I love stopping by Fort Casey when I am on Whidbey. Always reminds me of a camp trip we did there with a school program when I was young. Great views, neat history, spooky empty bunkers... love it!
