This is a nice little park with a gazebo, stone stadium seating, bench swings, a small wooden bridge, a stream, nice trees and picnic benches. I went here a few times in college with my Communication program and had a pizza lunch. I've been to a few weddings here, and I also proposed here. There is parallel parking across the street from the top of the park, and there is a parking lot at the bottom of the park.
nice park-very small, but peaceful. Good for a relaxing picnic, or just a relaxing sit. Otherwise, not a whole lot to do there. Next to police station, so it gives a safe environment.. Enjoy the Christmas tree lighting there every year
The Irmo Town Park – not to be confused with the new, considerably larger Community Park of Irmo – occupies a wooded hillside across from the town’s Municipal Building and adjacent to the Irmo Police Department. This beautifully landscaped little park, about the size of a standard city block, has long served the residents of Irmo as a green space in the heart of the town, a family-friendly place to relax and reenergize, and a venue for special events, including bandstand-style concerts, weddings, farmers markets, and even several recent editions of the Irmo Okra Strut festival (now staged in the Community Park). The Town Park has a parking lot and some curbside spaces on Carlisle Street. Its principal amenities include paved walks, benches, an amphitheater and gazebo (popular for weddings), a photogenic fountain and pond,a drinking fountain, and restrooms. Although the park doesn’t have a picnic shelter or grills, there are several picnic tables near the parking lot and people are also welcome to bring blankets, picnic baskets and coolers for picnics on the lawn. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are strictly prohibited. No roller blades, skateboards, bicycles, or scooters can be used in the park and pets are not allowed. The Irmo Town Park is open from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. I’ve visited this park many times over the years, most recently during a midweek afternoon when I just wanted to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. The best place to do that, in my opinion, is on the bench or porch-style swing adorning the wooden deck under the spreading branches of the Irmo White Oak, the park’s enormous heritage tree.
