We included a visit to this park as part of our day trip to Augusta. Their website states that they are open 365 days a year and managed by the Olde Towne Preservation Association. I knew that we would not be visiting during an event, and did not expect and demonstrations or reenactments. However, I did expect some history during my visit. I have been to numerous parks that are "open" but un-staffed, and based my expectations on those experiences. However, this park is made up of many buildings that appeared to be of modern construction, but styled after historic businesses. All of them were locked. Looking through the windows, the buildings were mostly empty or otherwise filled with storage or maintenance materials. On top of that, aside from one sign at the entrance, there wasn't a single sign throughout the park with historical information. I don't know about everyone else, but when I visit a place with 'History' in the name, I expect to learn something. If I hadn't have downloaded the park map onto my phone, I would have been completely lost. Overall, the park was pretty (at least the parts not actively under construction), but it was a frustrating experience and not at all what I expected from a Living History park.

We are out $900.00 , wife signed a ridiculous contract 14 month cancelation notice . Signed it within 9 months before wedding , canceled 2 months later. Impossible to cancel within 14 months, dis-honest operation . Will hang up on you , and won't answer questions, was wanting to hide their information . BEWARE

I like the cool little tavern. Lots of neat festivals. But the tavern has to be the coolest. Had the pumpkin jamboree nearby.

I don't think that much happens at this park, but I like it quiet and when I have a bad day, need to relax, or meditate... this is my sanctuary. I feel like I am in another place from all the antebellum period style cottages. To whom ever keeps this "best kept secret".... great job and I hope it is always available to enjoy the waterscapes, gardens, and landscapes.

They have reenactment's here from time to time, which are pretty cool. Other then that, this place can become a bore rather quickly.I wouldn't recommend planning your day around it. To stop by for a second with no expectations, okay.

We attended a wedding reception there in September and the park was breaktaking in color. We have also attended reenactments all done very accurately and some of the reenactors make you believe you have stepped back to that century. This park has been developed slowly with lots of planning and thought went into and offers such a great learning experience for all ages.

The Living History Park is a beautiful place to visit, however having an event there is very stressful. It is definetely NOT user friendly. Lot's of negatives to overcome for the customer. It is over rated and without a doubt the most expensive venue in North Augusta. It does not even have a functional kitchen. There is a kitchen in an adjacent building, BUT only certain caterers are allowed to use it. Their answer is " it isn't up to code". That doesn't fly. If it isn't up to code, then it should be closed to everyone. However, for what they charge, it is absurd that they have no kitchen. The director wants to bully and dictate. All is well until after you pay. From that point on, everything you ask about gets a negative answer and an additional charge. I realize this is operated by volunteers, but they should use some of the money they charge to pay someone to give some customer service. The gate keeper assigned to us was very nice, but could make no decisions without calling the director who was always negative. I say think twice before you rent this for an event.

This is great history lessons for all. The people who participate with the shows here are real as it gets. It feels like you have gone back in time and when you walk out your back in the city.

Gave an interesting insight into life at that time. All the volunteers dressed in period costume and were very informative when asked questions.

We went for the art fair a few weeks ago with our whole family. The art portion was small but the living history part of the park was just great! We will be visiting during the summer to learn even more.

If you've ever wanted to know what it was like to live back in colonial times, this is it. This wonderful park not only contains a church, a school house, gardens, a stream and pond, and some stone and wooden cottages, but also has people that dress up and play the parts of settlers. It's a great place to go wonder, learn and enjoy. Ghost tours, weddings, artisans fairs, they have a lot going on. We learned a lot about the daily lifestyle of the people from those times. What they ate, grew, did for fun and more. I would highly recommend a visit any time of the year.
